@Vanessa thanks so much for this reassurance! Thanks for the tips too!
I had a c-section in March 2024 and I still don’t really have any feeling in my lower stomach just above my scar, it felt very strange at first but definitely something that I’m more used to now. But it was something that was quite annoying in the beginning especially when my scar was healing and itchy! Some people do get the feeling back though x
I had my c section in November of 2024 and I still have a good amount of numbness above my scar. It's because the nerves get severed during surgery, they can sometimes regain feeling to the area but there's not much that can help. Scar massage may work if you have a lot of scar tissue, but for the majority of people it's the fact that the nerves were cut and unfortunately there's no way to help them reconnect unless they do it on their own and that process can take years, nerves regenerate very slowly.
@MK @Charlotte thanks so much for sharing! Makes me feel less alone in this journey!
I had my first c-section September 2020 and I still have numbness between my belly button and my scar. It has marginally improved but not by much. Having my second c-section in September 2023 didn’t make my numbness any worse at all.
Mine was numb for a long time too! I started getting feeling back around 6 months pp which was actually even weirder feeling because it was coming back slowly/not all at the same time and felt a little pinchy/uncomfy to be touched. It still feels a little off when my 8 month old tries to push her feet against me there but it’s starting to feel a lot more normal as time goes on. No one warned me I would be completely numb for so long though!
@Megan it’s the worst feeling when Bub stand on that area!
Same! I had my C-section in October 2023 and it was very numb/tingly but also so painful in that area for a long time, probably like five months. My doctor was not very helpful and I was terrified I was going to have to live with that pain for the rest of my life. It did eventually stop though, not sure if the numbness went away or if I just got used to it, but either way I was comfortable again. I started doing yoga for the first time in my life around a year postpartum and I think that has helped strengthen and stretch everything out in that area too.
Girl I had mine in January and I thought I was crazy still feeling numb
Not to be the bearer of bad news on this thread. But I had my first c-section in 2008 and it was almost 12 years until my next one. And I still had spots that were still slightly numb. It definitely came back somewhat. But I have spots that I think will always feel a little weird. They don't normally bother me unless I deliberately touch them, then I get a kind of icky feeling.
Mine has literally just started coming back from dec 2022..on to my second one soon🥲😅
Not sure if it does come back, but I do know it's totally normal! X
Hi girlie! I’m also 4 months pp, had a c-section and I’m still numb too! It’s completely normal and I was told that it might not come back or it’ll take a while for it to come back. I kinda feel like I’m very slowly getting more feeling but also don’t know if it’s my brain tricking me 😂
@Helen what document is that? Can you share the whole doc? I had my c sec with my first child in April this year, not only numb above the incision but also can’t feel when I need to pee, like I’d say I 90%, until I’m very very full and in the washroom for some other reason that is when I’d know oh I should pee. Anyone else facing this too ???

@Honey https://www.stgeorges.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/THE_STM.pdf This is where I got the information from. The top half is for VBAC and there's also perineum massage I believe in there too.
@Helen wow thanks so much for this
Hiiiiiii! I had a c section in january 2023 and still have minimal feeling to the whole upper fuzzy triangle haha it’s one of those things you kinda get used to. can be very annoying in the healing phase as you can feel itchy but not get the satisfaction of scratching since you can’t feel yourself etc but eventually it becomes normal. some people regain feeling, some don’t, massaging over your scar will help you to break up scar tissue over the nerve endings (that’s what’s preventing you from feeling) but it’s not a magical cure all. i kinda like it because it makes getting waxed a lot less painful! 😂
