Fit to fly letter

Does anyone know how to get a fit to fly letter. I’ll be 28 weeks when I go on holiday and need one for insurance purposes. My midwife said I need to get it from my GP but my GP said it comes from my midwife. They also said I can get this done privately instead, just wondering if anyone’s got any recommendations! TIA🫶🏼

I’m also flying at 28 weeks! My midwife said to contact my GP but I’m yet to do so :/ anxious about the flight even though it’s 4hrs

I got it from my midwife, called and asked for it and they booked me in to pick it up. I don't think the GP can give it as it has to come from someone who has been seeing you and following your pregnancy, as far as I was told.

I got one from my midwife at my 25 week appointment as I’ll be traveling when I’m 28 weeks

I’ve had this same issue both telling me to go to one another🫣 quite frustrating as I don’t really know what to do but also flying the same time! Xx

I think it all depends on the area you live, my midwife could not do me one but I’ve got a phone appointment with my GP Friday to get them to do me one hopefully

That sounds so frustrating! I flew with BA today and had heard that they might require letters even before the third trimester so asked my midwife to fill in their form and she sent it back over email. In the end they never asked for it (I had a bag in front of the bump so don’t think they made much notice of it) so can’t vouch for this process.

I got mine from my midwife. It has to be dated within 2 weeks of the day you fly though

@Malin yeah I’m flying with BA and I think they might need one! Just frustrating gp and midwife don’t do them

@Chantelle yeah this is the prob! What did you do in the end?

@Jenna still haven’t got anything sorted so rather stressed, who did you book your travel insurance with? Xx

With my previous pregnancy my midwife and GP refused to do a fit to fly so I had to go private

Having this issue too! I might just get an online one think it comes almost immediately x

@Chantelle I haven’t yet, just trying to see if I deffo need one cause I’ll have to go private at this rate x

@Kelsey where are you getting it from online? Xx

@Jade literally me atm! So bad how it’s so difficult to get

I’m flying with jet2 soon and my midwife said to print off the airlines fit to fly and she’ll sign it. How frustrating you’d think they’d make it simple for us wouldn’t you!

I did exactly this both were being difficult keep pressing on in the end I got it from my doctor

It costs £30 for the letter from GP the letter just needs to say how many weeks you are and the reason you cannot fly for me it was Thailand , so prone to certain diseases. You explain to the insurance company you found out you were pregnant after booking the holiday

My midwife said they don’t do them anymore and it has to be my GP. I submitted a request on the online portal yesterday morning and got a text like 2 hours later with the invoice (£25) so i assume there’s no issue with them doing it! My Doctors are really good though, always quick coming back to me with any requests x

That is so weird some of you have to pay for your fit to fly from your GP.. my midwife signed a paper then and there when I saw her. No questions asked!
