Baby sleeping only on one side

Hi, does anyone else’s baby sleep only on one side at night? My baby seems to like the left side I’m not sure if it’s just because he prefers that side or if it’s something I should worry about! Does anyone else’s baby do this

Try switching the way you lay them down. Instead of feet at the bottom, put head at the bottom. It's what our dr suggested

Does your baby favor the left side during the day/ doing activities? Look up torticollis and see if some of the symptoms are the same for yours! We have our baby adjusted at a pediatric chiropractor and sometimes her neck muscles are tight and can cause favoring one side.

It is natural for a baby to prefer one side. Does he do this during the day or when you have him in the pack and play, or when changed? Try feeding him with the opposite arm, also changing him on the opposite side and what side you play with him when he’s in the pack and play. My baby tend to face towards one side when he sleeps, but I have been doing the above and I find that he will look all around.

It can cause flathead. Mine had torticollis and got at really odd shaped head from only sleeping with her head to one side. It’s really hard to stop, I was cosleeping and the only thing that worked was to put her next to me so when she turned to face me/breastfeed, it was her non-preferred side. Her head shape is more normal now but still a bit wonky, but you can only really tell if she had wet hair and you know it’s there.

My son was like this but he did grow out of it once he could roll well, he didn’t get a flat head or anything so unless baby seems to be in pain I wouldn’t be too worried x

@Susan he likes sleeping on his left side whenever he gets a nap in during the day and then at night, I do lots of tummy time with him too make sure it’s not causing a flathead! But his always just leaning to the left

@Ellie okay Thankyou I will try this!

Facing left or actually on his side?

@Susan facing left

Gotcha – I wouldn’t worry.Mine prefers left and faces left to sleep..and then I started worrying and turning the pack and play all that…I just say keep an eye out and maybe try those things… ask the doctor. They’re always looking at everything during those visits.

My little boy also prefers to sleep on his left or his front. As an adult I also have a favourite side to sleep on so it’s probably just what he finds more comfy ☺️ if you are concerned defo speak to doctor or health visitor (depending on where you are) ❤️
