I always used tap water
Im from the us however i wouldnt recommend using tap water however i have no idea what tap water is like in the uk. I know moms who have used tap water and it ended up being fine i just always used bottle or a gallon of water!
My parents used tap water for all of us kids and my LO drinks tap water and were ok. 👍🏼
I used tap water in the US for both of my sons. We all drink tap!
In the UK i used tap water (i boiled it in kettle in morning and let it cool)
It says you can use from 6months on the NHS site.. I never knew that but we don't consume tap water unless it's boiled or filtered.
I always used tap water! I have 3 kiddos
But to answer your question, I think you’re supposed to fill the bottle with water first before putting formula in, so you’d have to fill the bottle with the full 9oz of water before putting the formula in that way baby gets the right amount of scoops needed.
Yes this is fine as long as you do the "hot shot" first to sterilise the powder 😊 I do the same thing, UK here too 😊
I’m from the uk and it’s a big no
I'm in Scotland and that's what I did from 7 months onwards! Agree with Emily to do the hot shot to sterilise the formula.
Call me a bad mum but I’ve always made my babies bottle with water straight from the tap not boiled before and he’s healthy and happy! Always put powder in first too because that’s how it’s made with the prep machine! I do add a little more water to make up for the powder Edit: I use the hot shot method so do use boiled water at 70 first then top up with tap water
The water needs to be a specific heat to kill the bacteria in formula. Although it is safe for them to drink tap water from 6 months. If the water isn't hot enough for the formula then can cause them to be poorly
I always boiled the water

* the bottle would be made with a hot shot of course to kill bacteria!! just wanted to know if it was okay to do the cold water straight from the tap, thank you for these responses 🥰🥰
Think you'd have to measure out the full 9oz in the bottle though because of the displacement when the formula goes in.
Yes tap water is fine after 6 months (UK)
If it’s boiled it should be fine!
Tap water is fine but it won’t be an accurate measurement. Once you put formula in, it increases the measurement so you won’t be putting the correct amount of water in. Unless you measure the tap water out in a different bottle? X
BUY TEST STRIPS ON AMAZON. Water varies from country to city to state. Also, depending on the age of your house, you could still have lead water lines. Chemicals can even seep into waterlines from nearby sources like farms. TEST IT. Plus tap water has flouride and chlorine!! Best bet is to buy distilled water.
I always boil and then cool the tap water first
As long as you sterilise the powder with recently boiled water I imagine it would be okay. It's not the water that's the issue it's the powder.
When we were doing formula we bought distilled water from a water store (socal) but our tap water wasn’t healthy to drink so we all used that for drinking/ cooking.
@Katie boiling doesn't remove heavy metals like lead
@Tiffany The UKs water doesn't have lead in it unless the pipes are old and are still lead ones. Which is a whole other issue. We're also told here not to use bottled water (for babies) as the mineral content is different, it can have high sodium and sulphates so can be dangerous.
@Katie in the US it's bizarre to use tap water without testing it first, although growing up as kids we all drank it. But for babies, it's just not worth the risk of not testing it when you can get it tested by the city for free or buy strips online
i’m from the uk btw so tap water is safe!!
