We are going through this at the moment- it’s taken about 3 weeks to settle her (had some interruptions with the bank holiday/ injections!). But she is much better now- still cries a bit but settles almost straight away. I didn’t think this would happen given her reaction at the start but thankfully it’s been more positive and I can see the developmental changes already. I think it’s totally normal for them to cry at this stage, most of my friends said it takes about a month or so for them to adjust so Hang in there. It’s so hard and the guilt really gets to you, but I am sure your little one will get better soon!
A few weeks till she stopped clinging to me when leaving. She was just 2. Awful as it sounds it was better just dropping and running then the staff would always message me or send me a photo showing she was perfectly fine! Now she does not let me take her in I get told to leave and she skips in! It's hard, but they do love it once they are there x
My baby started with childminder last week. First few days seemed fine on arrival, crying a bit at nap time. But then this week I think she has realised what’s going on - she’s only 8.5m (adjusted) - and now is pretty upset when I leave which is hard. I’ve been advised it can take around 2 months.
Thanks, everyone, for your responses! It's now week 2, and I'm starting to see an improvement. My son still cries at drop-off, but he’s beginning to engage in the class. Like everyone else, it takes time. Good luck for the ones also trying. I'm sure they'll be fine! 🙏😊
My son started nursery August 24 and he's been absolutely fine, he's 3 now although prem at 24wks i had real big issues just how he would adapt etc but he's coped really well, he's non verbal but I know he enjoys it 💜💜 , Possibly as there's soo many different toys and crafts etc that we don't have at home lol He does have some delays but he had a settling week and he just walks off and leaves me now lol 😆 x
