I use them with my first and they’re great. We’ve just gone back to reusables temporarily as I can’t handle them with morning sickness lol. If you breastfeed it’s certainly easier as before they start solids you can just put dirty nappies straight into the washing machine. After solids I just empty them into the toilet first and give the liners a rinse if needed. I do clean all the nappies but it’s only really a minute after changing a dirty nappy and wet nappies go straight into the wash bag. Then I stick them on to wash every other night. Best brands I’ve used (and I tried a ton) are Fiyyah, Lighthouse Kids Company and Modern Cloth Nappies. Cost about £700 for a full set (3 days worth, plenty of wet bags and 4 overnight nappies)
I have some to use for our baby when it is born! Partner is on board though, which is lovely. He wasn’t at first but then I bought a full set so now we have them 😂
@Emily that's a good idea! Heheh
@Charlotte Wow! Thank you so much for all the information! I will have a look at the brands you mentioned
@Katie uhhh Disposable Liners sounds like a great idea! Thank you so much
You won’t need disposable liners unless formula feeding or until weaning. Also I would recommend maybe starting from 3 months - birth to potty nappies will be really bulky on a newborn and newborns poop all the time and need so many more nappy changes than babies at 3-4 months so you will either end up washing your nappy stash every day (and they are naturally absorbent so take a decent time to dry)or buying way more nappies than you will realistically need a few months later (for reference our worst newborn day was something like 20 nappy changes and to last me 3 days I have 30 nappies total). Even though I’ll be using them on my older baby, I won’t bother until my new baby is 3 months.
@Charlotte are they actually £700?! I just nearly fell over reading that, I'm really hoping you meant £70 as I am hoping to use them 😂
i am definitely hoping to use them. have you had a look into ones with disposable liners? they sound like they might help with overall mess/ cleanup, although worth saying i have very little experience with nappies at this stage as a FTM to be!! x
