Can you freeze formula?

So I’ve read a few posts about people freezing breast milk and making ice lollies/putting it in teething toys. I was wondering if you can do the same with formula. Make it like usual let it cool then freeze? I’m obviously a FTM so I’m unsure and don’t want to do anything that would harm my baby.

I would call your local nhs health visitor number and check it with them, I wouldn’t trust if someone here says you can personally. Formala is quite different because of the bacteria it contains - worth checking with a professional about this

Depending on your babies age you can always make fruit ice treats for them, I made some for my son recently with fruit feeders, by putting some fruit puree and a couple of raspberries in there to, will freeze so quickly and my LO was a fan, because they have the handle on fruit feeders and are shaped like a dummy there perfect!

Yes, you can freeze formula. Just for the purpose of teething, not for future bottles. It will lose its nutritional value though.

No!! As it won’t be sterile. Has to be mixed with boiled water to be sterile

Don't think you can no

No you shouldn’t freeze formula. Even if it’s for teething, you child will ingest it

@Abi but you can still make it with boiled water and then freeze it?

@Ellie you can but it’s definitely advised against if you research it as it’s not been tested under those conditions and the temperatures may mean it’s no longer sterile. I think if you’re going to do it, maybe do it with pre-made formula? Powder formula is the most risky for this I think

@Ellie my pediatrician said it was fine with the powder and just buying the jug of water. She said freezing a little bit of it would do no harm if it’s just for teething because it’s not meant for feeding.

@Kovashya this is really bad advice, from your profile it seems your in the US - I’m not sure if the formula is different there but here in the UK baby formala has to be mixed with boiled water before use, this is to kill bacteria with in the milk that they ALL contain, not that your wrong that might be the case where you are and the formala your using…. Anyone considering this please don’t risk you baby getting poorly, make some fruit ice pops

@Cerise so don’t tell me it’s bad advice lol. Clearly it’s different where you are. I was told by someone in the uk you guys don’t get distilled water in gallons. So it’s different, we get baby water in jugs so we don’t have to boil, so yes it’s completely different. Literally for all the formulas here… we don’t even know where the OP is from because they’re incognito.
