Universal credit review
I have a universal credit review coming up and I’m just so confused by my own bank statements, they are a complete mess and I’m struggling to remember payments from January for example.
I’m quite bad with money / numbers anyway, so I just try and keep track day to day, but sometimes my family do help me out if I’ve over spent and I need help with shopping. I fell behind on my rent so they gave me £2000 to allow me to pay back my rent.
The last few months especially have been a mess for me financially, my child’s dad decided to try and go self employed, which meant my child maintenance was few and far between. Some months I’d borrow him money, some months he would just repay the money he borrowed and some months he would repay and give me child maintenance, but they are all in the same payment. I didn’t ever think to separate the transactions into “repayment / child maintenance” for the sake of bank statements because like I said I know what it’s for, and I never check my statements because I’m useless and just keep track day to day rather than month to month. Some months he would give me money in cash and I would just deposit it into my bank account.
Because it’s just my bank I know how to keep track of it day to day, but now I’m looking at statements I’m getting so confused by it all. I borrowed money off him years ago when I bought my first car, so the payment reference is just “owed to you”, I’ll change it sometimes if I remember too but most the time I’ll just transfer the money without changing it, same to my mom and dad there reference is “Xmas gifts” I’m just so worked up on how I’m going to explain this to another human who doesn’t have the same brain as me to know I’m completely useless when it comes to explaining things or I can’t remember what it was for.
Has anyone else had a review please and give me some guidance? Because I’m so worked up.
I don’t understand also from looking online the whole 6k / 16k saving, what’s capital? For reference I started my claim during Covid and probably only had a few face to face meetings with the job centre, I’m just so confused now
Will repayments of money count as income? Does child maintenance not listed as child maintenance be okay? Will it be okay that ive borrowed money? Will it be okay if I don’t remember a transaction? Will my transaction references mess things up? I just hope the person doing the review is patient with me because I’m scrambled trying to remember and I feel pressured to get everything right on the review so my claim is handled correctly
