Most important for me is just starting SOMEWHERE. It's almost impossible in our modern world to completely avoid all the unhealthy things I'd like to avoid, but I can certainly avoid some of them. I just pick something that my family and I can do and try to stick with it. For example, maybe with your schedule it's too difficult to go shampoo-free, but you may be able to switch to bar shampoo & avoid plastic packaging. "Perfection is the enemy of Progress"
Balance and moderation. If there is a healthier choice for the easiest thing, I'm choosing the healthier option. But not shielding her from all the things she will inevitably be exposed to in life. Teaching independence early on too so they are confident in their own choices as they get older.
Unlearning everything I previously thought was true, and being humble enough to roll up my sleeves and do the hard work and digging into *everything*. Crunchy choices are about a continuation of learning, tweaking patterns, and oftentimes making the hard choices for the benefit of my family.
