Learn more about our guidelines.I'm slowly buying and packing mine now. Just buying bits and bobs like got some nighties and travel body wash/shampoo/toothpaste/toothbrush. Some bobbles, babies, first outfit, and that's it so far x
@Cameron Jade Exciting! Thanks for sharing. X
Toiletries, hairbrush, two night dresses, arrive in the outfit youāll go home in, hair bobbles/ clips, phone charger, slip on slippers and a light dressing gown, pads, nipple cream if you want to breastfeed, breast pads, maternity bras/ underwear. For baby, 4 new born/ 0-3 month baby grows and vests, dummy if youāre using one, hat, cardigan, muslin cloths, nappies/ wipes, nappy cream, formula/ bottle/ sterilising fluid if you want to bottle feed, they will give you blankets but can take a blanket for baby/ comforter. Partner can always fetch more stuff if you need it but on the maternity ward you donāt have much space between beds. Keep car seat in the car, donāt put a coat/ pram suit on baby in the car seat. I took very little and it was so much easier, other people fussing about and getting frustrated with suitcases. Also keep everything in zip lock bags, like one for baby grows, another for underwear, nappies⦠saves you rummaging through your bag to find things
With my first I packed absolutely everything, and I probably used about a tenth of it. There are a ton of great lists online to use as a guide though.
What I would really recommend is a long phone cable or extension lead as you never know where a free socket will be. Also donāt forget a separate sealable ideally bag for any dirty clothes. Birth can be a messy old time šš«£
@Farah Thank-You very helpful
@Amy Thank-You! Making notes
Funnily enough I started doing mine yesterday. I found a cute bag so thought Iād start packing the babies stuff. Though it will all need washing about a week or so before the baby actually comes.
Iāve put 4 sets of vets, baby grows, a jacket, her blanket, a nail kit, wipes, nappies and sudocream. I still need to get the milk for newborns that come ready to use, just in case she doesnāt latch. And then we need to decide on her coming home outfit. Also needs hats too.
I still need to do my own bag, which will have pjās, bikini top (hoping for water birth), breast pads, panty liners, underwear, 4 outfits, maternity bras, charger, speaker, lavender spray, slippers, dressing gown, my expert midwive perineal spray āspritz for your bitsā
