Nappies - what am I doing wrong??

We get so many wee leaks, what are we doing wrong?! Baby boy keeps waking with wee up his back, I think it comes through the sides above his legs. We always point his penis down, and I’m pretty sure it’s still down when we change his nappy. He wakes up so unhappy (understandably so!) and we’re going through loads of washing… We’ve tried Asda and pampers nappies so far but it happens with both. Nappies aren’t full - they could take the extra wee. Am I putting the nappies on wrong?! Am I just using bad nappy brands? Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Is the waistband tight enough? Do you run your fingers in the leg openings when it's on to fully expand and seal off his legs? We use huggies, haven't had a problem unless the diapers are overfull. My husband didn't know the thing about the leg openings until it happened a few times he was wet and I showed him.

2:07 in this video she talks about what I'm trying to describe https://g.co/kgs/nXsqHMA

Also make sure the size is right, sometimes they need to move up in size sooner than you wxpect, or the size is too big

He may be cold. Babies will soil themselves to keep warm. What’s he wearing to sleep? I use pampers swaddlers and don’t have issues

I had the same for a long time and what helped for me was sizing up the vests we were using, and also making sure that the frilly bit around the legs is not tucked inside the nappy, but is outside (hopefully that makes sense). If that's tucked inside they always leak for us, and I had never realised that!

Hey, if it is just up the back double check his wee willy is pointing down when you put the nappy on otherwise when he pees it will be going up and round maybe? We had this issue a couple of times and my partner worked it out. The joys of boys!

I would make sure you're doing them up tight enough on the waist and they're not too big. Too small I imagine they would fill before leaking but we recently had nappies that were a bit big and they weren't catching it, they were just leaking up her back.

If he is an active baby try pull ups best decision I made for my son the nappies were so plastic and itchy when he walked and would leave red rashes no matter what brand as soon as I swapped to pull up nappies game changer barely ever has blow outs unless the nappy has been put on wrong or he has pull his pants down a bit

Does he wear poppered vests?

Try Pampers nappy pants, they're brilliant! We use size 4+ for extra absorbance and they're really good

@Kai we’ve only been pulling out the outer one!! Will give this a go and hope it fixes it 🤞 thank you

Make sure you're using the right size and try different brands as they all have slightly different fits. You could also try nappy pants/pull ups depending on size, these are usually available from size 4 onwards 😊 We get on really well with Sainsburys nappies x

Agree with sizing up on vests and sleepsuits if he’s wearing them as the poppers around the nappy area can cause compression leaks x

How old is your little man?

I do a size up in diaper at night and also line his diaper with a sposie to hold extra pee.

Have you tried Pampers - Pants? The size you are wearing is too small

Try the perfect fit calculator on the Pampers app to make sure you are using the right ones and then see if Aldi/ Pampers red / Pampers purple might help. The Pampers are different - one for premium protection and other for active baby xx

Baby is 5 weeks so I think pull up pants would be too big yet. Wearing size 2 pampers at the moment
