Cat napping

My 12 week LO has gone from having long naps to literally 20-30 minute cat naps the past 2 weeks. Has this happened with anyone else? Not sure if this is a phase or this will be her routine now. šŸ˜… xx

My little boy is the same age and is doing exactly the same thing, I can’t even get stuff done round the house properly without him waking up. Hopefully it doesn’t last longšŸ˜«šŸ˜…šŸ«£ x

Yeah that’s the same for me. It’s become extremely hard. Does your little boy sleep during the night as my little girl still wakes every 2-3 hours too so even the less sleep during the day doesn’t improve the sleep at night ha x

For the past 3 weeks he’s been sleeping through nearly 10 hours, last feed at 8pm (from birth he’s woke up every 3 hours like his normal day time routine) but these past few nights he’s been getting up at 3am, absolutely starving like I’ve never fed him and we start every 3 hour feeds from then. He has a feed, 10/15 minutes for smiles, cooing and tummy time then asleep for a nap. Which could last for anywhere between 10 minutes to 45. I’ve been putting white noise on YouTube to see if that helps🫣 x

Aw wow 10 hours that would be a dream! Ha I wonder if he’s having a bit of a growth spurt with being starving, bless him! I thought with my her only napping very short spells it may change her night time routine and sleep longer, but not at the moment haha! Xx

This is developmentally normal - naps go crap before consolidating again. How is baby going/settling to sleep? So much is happening at this age… lots of development, babies have to start creating their own melatonin (sleepy hormone) and they are starting to go through a huge sleep shift (the only true regression often coined as the 4 month sleep regression) where sleep cycles start to mature. Can hit anytime between 3-5months. Babies have to learn how to connect sleep cycles and it helps if they can settle themselves (not usual for this age so takes time/work/patience). If they are napping in light this is also where going to a pitch dark room can help. Good naps help nighttime sleep too and avoiding overtiredness. It won’t last forever but depends on baby/environment/settling as to how long it’ll last.

@Ami I was living the dream for a while, it was so nice to have a full nights sleep (hopefully you’ll get back to having a good rest soon mummy!šŸ’–) xx
