My boy is 5 weeks old and today on and off his just been screaming crying, going red and nothing stops him - I try milk, burping, nappy change, dummy, just comforting him and he just won’t stop. He’s been on and off like this all day. But it’s just weird as since he’s been born the only time he cries will be when he wants milk and it’s never as bad as this. So I just find it weird and I’m not use to it as my first was the same he only ever cried for milk. Is it normal or should I do something about it?

Learn more about our guidelines.I always heard to check for hair tourniquets if they are crying without explanation. I imagine there's only a small chance that it is that but other than being extremely over tired I don't know what would be causing it. You know your child best - if you are concerned go speak to a professional I'd say.
There is something called leaps. Every baby is going through these leaps which basically means they are developing mentally. Check out wonder weeks, everything will be explained. It helped my a lot to understand my first born
Apparently there are weeks where baby will cry excessively without any obvious reason - you might of heard of ICON - coping with crying , might be worth looking up
I’m dreading this phase! As it can last quite a few weeks/ months

Thank you everyone! I’m hoping it doesn’t continue and it’s just a one off thing today because I’ve felt so useless😭 feel like I just want to cry with him as nothing I do helps!!
Try a baby carrier or ring sling. It helped a lot of times
I’ve had this too!! My baby is 6 weeks tomorrow and for the last week, he’s been randomly more fussy in the evenings from 5pm-8pm. Think it’s that “witching hour” thing and it’ll hopefully pass soon! But yeah it’s horrible as you feel so helpless. I’ve been using a baby wrap and carrying him on me and that seems to help him. And On a positive, our baby has been sleeping long stints throughout the night since he’s been fussier which is good!! So hopefully it’ll pass for you soon xx
Could be a leap, if you download the app “wonder weeks” it’s really good at giving you an idea of the different phases they are going through
Yeah he did seem to be more settled when I had him upright on me and walking around but I could only do that for so long because I have a toddler too so he also needed me😭 I was looking at getting a carrier soon anyway so might get it this week and see if it helps! Thank you!! xx
@Tiffany this looks helpful, thank you I’ll download it xx
