I’m in the U.S. and my hospital provides so much! I personally prefer adult diapers instead of the mesh undies and thick pads the hospital gave me. They had cold packs to put inside your underwear.
@Rhiannon I live in the U.S in New York
the hospital had pretty much everything. the huge pads, adult diapers/disposable undies, tucks pads, peri bottle, dermoplast type spray. i did bring some of my own things like my own peri bottle and aloe pads but i would have been fine without it. i will say the frida mom peri bottle is better than the hospital one. and they’ll let you take home a bunch of stuff
I brought some stuff didn’t use it. I even had stuff at home that I didn’t use I just brought home hospital stuff that lasted me the few days I needed it.
I gave birth in NY and my birth center had everything i needed. Did you tour your birth location? They’ll show you everything they have for you and also offer suggestions of things you may want to consider bringing.
Use the hospitals stuff and use yours at home.
@Anne yes ma’am, there was a class we went to and they showed us the labor and delivery floor and a room. I just forgot what they said they had. I just wanted to be extra prepared just in case
Bring adult diapers and an angled peri bottle, the rest they have! Pooping was hard but you can ask for stool softeners but they will charge any meds you take to insurance. If your insurance isn’t great, buy the stool softeners from the pharmacy (they’re red and blue, I forgot the name). Also, they provide food so if you’re having trouble pooping, add oatmeal to your orders! Many hospitals allow you to order as much as you want so take advantage for each meal. Snacks for dad because it’s A LOT of waiting, and that’s it! I didn’t even bring a take home outfit for baby, but they provided one and I didn’t think of it 🫠
Where do you live? That might make a difference. I’m in the UK, they provided 3 meals a day, ibuprofen/paracetemol and will give a limited amount of formula if you can’t breastfeed, but nothing else. My induction took 7 days so I had a lot of stuff with me in the hospital by the end of it 😅
