I was prescribed progesterone from my fertility clinic. Twice a day, vaginally. I was to use them once I was confirmed to be ovulating and we had sex. I had my son! I highly recommend wearing a panty liner with them because what goes up must come down lol
@Katherine may I ask if it was prescribed due to lower levels or was just to naturally boost chances of conception? xx
I wouldn’t take progesterone (unless you have been prescribed it) until you get a positive pregnancy test. It’s only supposed to help if you have a short luteal phase, or spot in the luteal phase (both signs of low progesterone). Also recommended if you’ve ever had an early miscarriage with bleeding. Hit in this case it’s meant to be taken once you have a positive pregnancy test. It can also delay your period starting if you’re taking it for no real indicated reason.
@Amy I totally agree! Xx I was thinking along the same lines!
It was prescribed because I couldn’t hold a pregnancy long enough to be viable. BUT I’m currently pregnant with my daughter who is a total “oops” baby and I brought it up with my current OB (we had moved states) and they said it wasn’t necessary and *usually* only prescribed by fertility specialists. I’m almost 30 weeks pregnant without progesterone but I do believe with the fertility cocktail of drugs the clinic had me on it was a necessary factor in having my little boy.
My fertility doctor said that prescribing progesterone is super outdated and not evidence based best practice anymore. It does not address why you have low progesterone if you do at all.
Also, for those who took it, did it help in conceiving quickly?
