I feel like this is weird but does anyone ever get like really negative feelings and discomfort mentally when they're pumping or breastfeeding?

This is my second pregnancy third baby I breastfed my twins until they were about 6 months, and am now in my 38th week of pregnancy and been colostrum collecting. Whenever I pump I get like really self conscious and mentally uncomfortable? I dont know how to explain it i just feel icky. I'm so so happy I'm able to collect so much colostrum and breast feed my babies I dont know why i feel so weird in the actual moment of doing so. Anyone else experience this?

I've never experienced this, but it sounds like it could be something called Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (D-MER)

Agree with above, sounds like D-MER. It's fairly common actually. I have D-MER and going on 6.5 months EBF with my little guy, I wish I could say it's gotten better but honestly I've just had to power through. Mine manifests as anxiety and nausea, definitely not my favorite thing in the world.

DMER

I’m opposite. I get a rush of tingles and sense of eurotica. Almost like that buildup before an orgasm. Lol. Huge relief (maybe from engorged boobs though, I didn’t collect colostrum) so it’s interesting for me to hear others get DMER symptoms coz mines a rush of, arousal almost. I dunno it’s hard to explain. The letdown is immensely satisfying for me

Yes ! But we are eight months along now so it’s been better for me personally, I didn’t end up getting it diagnosed because I didn’t know that it was a thing. I just thought I was depressed until recently when I saw a video about it and I was like wait a minute I did that.😭

yes it happened to me every time i had to stop 😔

Yes. It went away after a few months

DMER or my fave: Sad nipple syndrome 🙃 I get it too. It tends to fade after 4 months or so. For me it mostly manifests in nausea when baby first latches and for the first 10 minutes or so. I was so relieved when I found out it was 'a thing'!
