Nap help!

My little boy is 2 years and almost 4 months old. He napped for 40 minutes yesterday and was awake by 1 but then didn’t go down until 8pm. I think he’s ready to cut his nap out. But he’s always be one to fall asleep anywhere! So I’m worried about him falling to sleep around 3/4pm and then not going down until like midnight 🤣 any tips?

Push back the time of the nap. My 2 year 4 month old went for his nap today at 2.15 (usually he goes at 1.30 ish). He’s still asleep now but I’ll go get him up soon then he’ll go to bed at 8ish

@Laura push back? To later in the day? But then he won’t go down until a lot later than 8pm x

What time does he get up in the morning? Most children still need the nap till they're a bit older but it can be a long process of dropping it where some days they manage without and some days they can't. My LG is same age and is a late sleeper, she usually doesn't fall asleep till at least 9pm but will then sleep till I wake her at 8am. She still naps for around 45 mins to get through the day, we just try to keep the second wake period longer than the first

@Genevieve he normally wakes between 6-6:30. He will go down later some days because he’s just not tired (even if he’s got a big wake window!) but then still wake early!

@Emma you’d be surprised. So mine was doing 1.30 to 3.30. Now it’s 2.15 to 3.30. My eldest did the same, I had to push the nap back but cut it down so he was still getting up around the same time. It’s a bit of an experiment unfortunately.
