Poorly baby

My gp is backlogged and hasn’t yet managed to register my six week old baby so they suggested I’d have to take him to a&e but I’m not sure if that’s abit extreme? He’s got a really blocked/ snotty nose and he’s very fidgety - he’s got a little cough but no temp. Do I take him to a&e or is that just extreme?

Just ring 111. They will organise a GP appt for you somewhere especially seeing the age of the baby, even if it's our of hours, there special GPS dotted about usually and 111 can get appts

Gps

Def call 111 before going to A&E, they’ll prob be able to book you an appt with an out of hours GP since it’s the weekend. They may advise you to go to A&E anyway due to the age of your child, but it’s worth a shot.

Lots of A&Es have a GP available which you may be sent to when you’re triaged, so perhaps they’re aware of that and know you’ll get seen that way. But I agree, 111 should get you an actual GP appointment (but don’t panic if that is in an A&E department!)

Would ring 111. I rang them Thursday night and they made me an appointment at the walk in.

I know when my mum was in hospital over Easter they’ve closed it to visitors due to nurovirus. I’d call 111

I’d avoid a&e purely because there’s a high chance he will catch something worse! I really advise only going there when things are really serious - definitely 111 for a GP appointment

When they are that young, they usually want to check them immediately. Go to A&E or call 111 for an out of hours appointment.
