I had a c-section in July 2023 due to breech baby and had a successful VBAC in March, so pretty much the same timings as you. At my booking appointment I said I wanted a VBAC and never had anyone question it at all throughout my entire pregnancy. Congratulations!x
@Emily Could you share about your VBAC more please? What painkillers did you take if any? Epidoral? Gas&Air? Did you had oxytocin at all? and for the placenta delivery? Would love to hear your story, I'm in same situation and stressing 🫠
@Cassie of course! So I started getting light contractions about 6:30/7PM, they were coming every 10 minutes or so and I tried to go to bed about 10PM but they were getting stronger so I called the hospital about 11:30PM and they told me to come in. I didn’t get to hospital until just gone 1AM, when I got there they checked me and I was already 5CM dilated and asked for gas and air. In terms of pain management it was just the gas and air. They did ask me to stop using it when it came to pushing. She was born at 2:29AM. They asked me if I wanted the injection for the placenta, which I had, and the placenta was delivered a couple of minutes later. I did have a little graze, but it didn’t need stitches or anything. Overall I was so happy with the experience, I was home by lunch time and back to my normal things, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to avoid another c-section as I found the recovery so tough! Any other questions I’m happy to answer 🙂 when are you due?xx
This sounds so positive so glad to hear this!!! How did you cope on just Gas&Air, do you have any tips? I'm due in 2 weeks 🙈 I want to do just Gas&Air but I'm really worried I won't cope with the pain and end up with Epidoral and then shit goes down.
@Emily what was the gap between your two? 20 months? I had an unplanned c section back in September 24, and I want to try my best to hold off another buba just so I can really give VBAC a chance xx
@Aimee I'm in the same situation as you with planning a 2nd but not pregnant yet. My LG was born in August 24. I think we plan to start trying in August time. If you are UK based the VBAC support group UK is fantastic. Plenty of stories on there with short age gaps. Xx
@Isabella thank you! X
@Cassie I think I was very lucky that I progressed so quickly, there was a point where I was saying “I can’t do this” 🤣 especially as baby’s head was coming out, but the gas and air did help, I think focusing on your breathing while doing the gas and air took my mind off of the contraction pains and my midwives were amazing too! Ahh so close! Good luck to you, I hope you get your VBAC, you’ll be amazing!
@Aimee so between the two births there was 20 months, I found out I was pregnant just after my little boy turned 1 xx
@Emily ooo okay, thank you for responding 💖 xx
@Emily Thankyou for sharing, was so worried I may not be able to because of the timing 🫶🏻
@Isabella I’m in the UK, and it’ll be 21 months x
1000% possible. I've seen stories of the group I have mentioned above which is UK based with age gaps of 12 months. I would definitely advise hoining it as there are some beautiful birth stories in there. You always have the right to birth your baby the way you choice even if it's against their guidelines (which often aren't evidence based). You are also in that recommended window of over an over 18 month gap. X
Congratulations!! What country are you based in? What will the age gap be in months?
