None babe😭 thats an outdated practice. Even according to the AAP. How old is your baby?
@Abigail Joseph at the oldest, possibly 3 weeks away from 7 months. I don’t believe in it but I think if your baby could start BLW and sit up then I feel like cereal in a bottle isn’t too much of a choking hazard.
@Ava i respect where you are coming from. Rice cereal in general is extremely high in glyphosates unless you purchase organic— for starts. Secondarily to that there is no nutritional benefit to serving it. Cereal in a bottle is a choking hazard due to the placement in the mouth. If you look at a nipple, human or bottle, it bypasses lots of nerves and sensory processing points and feeds it right down the back of the throat. Babies are born with tongue thrust reflexes for a reason. If you don’t allow them to sensorily process foods as they enter the oral passageway, you are automatically increasing choking risk. If you feel inclined to serve baby cereal, a safer alternative is to prepare in a bowl and serve with a spoon (per AAP guidelines) Nothing should be served to a baby under 1, through a bottle besides breastmilk and/or formula.
Baby cereal is a bottle is also known to be a choking hazard
Please do not do that. It’s not safe and is empty calories.
@Abigail Joseph 5 months
for us we use that earths best organic oatmeal cereal what we did was make her bottle like normal then use 3 tbsp of the milk and of the cereal. (i think it’s on the box). once she got used to eating it we just started putting 1-2 oz in the bowl then just mixing the cereal til it’s like a consistency like grits
