Baby porridge

My daughter is 5 months and I’m thinking of trying her with baby porridge, can I add my breastmilk to it and not water? She’s been drooling and watching food for the last month and even tried to eat some toast

3 things to check first, can baby stay sitting holding their head steady, can they accurately bring hands to mouth and if given food do they swallow rather than push it back out with their tongue? If they can’t do these 3 yet it’s recommended to wait before introducing foods. If baby is ready then yes you can absolutely make it with breastmilk rather than water!

Yep I used to make my daughter’s up with breast milk when she first started having it!

I do add my breastmilk, sometimes I add water. My baby likes it more when I add my breastmilk though

@Beth she can sit supported, bring hands to her mouth (everything is in her mouth) and I haven’t tried any food to know if she swallows or pushes. She was born a few weeks early like her brother and it took him awhile to sit unsupported.

I warm up breastmilk and use it with the iron fortified baby oatmeal. I also add a hint of cinnamon 🤣

A health visitor advised me not to give baby porridge as it has a lot of sugar. To give baby the porridge adults can eat, and as I was already eating that it was helpful financially.
