ABCs- standard, phonetic or both? Which are you teaching? Comments why appreciated!

A friend of mine who is a primary school teacher says to start with OG alphabet, but my husband learned the phonetic one in school (I didn't encounter it until I was an adult!!) so he thinks we should do that one. Am I overthinking it? It's not like she can't learn both, I just don't want to confuse her. She loves learning numbers and recognises that there are letters and wants to learn them too! So I do want to get started on one or the other.. but which 😂

We started with the phonetic then did both once she was confident with all the letters! She learned it before she could talk/say the sounds herself so I would ask ‘where’s p’ (phonetic) and she would point at the letter in her book, then when she could say them all herself I taught her the og, she understood straight away that each letter basically has 2 sounds and it doesn’t confuse her x

Mine learned the original before phonetics. He still doesn’t know all the phonetic sounds but knows all the letter names and recognises all too. Again learned before he could talk. He now knows his alphabet, 1-20, animals and sounds, vehicle and sounds, some shapes, colours. I can’t remember what else

I’m going with the phonetic one first, it saves relearning something when they start to learn to read.

My auntie is a primary school head teacher and she said they find it harder with the kids who’ve been taught the phonetic alphabet at home, because they might teach it differently at school and it confuses the kids, or they’ll have been taught eg. “cuh” for C instead of a short c sound which is hard for them to unlearn for sight reading x

Oh no, it's an even split 😂

We have done the alphabet song but I do phonetic if we’re talking about letters. I have a feeling my other half does og sounds though so 🤷🏻‍♀️
