Exclusively BreastFeeding VS pumping?

The mamas that exclusively pump how did you decide to do so and did you start right away like in hospital or breast feed for a bit than switch? I’m trying to decide what I want to do. This is my third pregnancy but my second breast feeding journey. I just know my goal is to have baby on breast milk for a full year. My last was on it until 6.5 months old(With the help of donor milk) I wasn’t the best producer but I’m also contributing that to the stressful living situation that my family was dealing with at the time that we are no longer in (Thank the lord!) Also I have The Momcozy M9 and the Elvie Stride 2. Also if anyone has photos of their pumping/feeding schedule they use please share ❤️

What’s the benefits of pumping exclusively? Never heard that until recently

@Amber Elliott-Jenkins your able to let others feed so the flexibility especially with going back to work, you know they are still getting breast milk, and your in more control as in you know exactly how much baby is getting each feed. I just am not sure what to I want to do as I know that baby latching helps your milks nutrients change for them and their needs….

I was an exclusive breast feeder but I’m a lactation specialist and my exclusive pumpers usually do so for latch reasons or anomalies but I do know that they have always breastfed in the hospital and switched once they came home if they were having trouble with expressing colostrum

I had to pump from a week after birth as my son was ill and we had to ensure he was taking in a certain amount of milk every 2 hours which then led to problems with him latching so I almost exclusively pump however will breast feed once or twice a day now (he can now latch) but he won’t drink a full feed from me so will always still want a bottle. He is now 4 months and due to mastitis a couple of weeks ago I still pump for a minimum of 20 minutes every 3 hours even through the night as I just about manage to make enough for his feeds. When I breastfeed I tend to feed him first then pump afterwards however he will normally always still want a bottle a short while after and if he is fussy or due a feed he won’t take the breast at all. I wish from the beginning I could of breastfed him for a month or so first then introduced a bottle just a couple of times a day instead of the other way round x

I started week 1 pumping and from day 1 bf. I do a combination of both and works well I use mom cozy m5 I pump morning, afternoon, evening & earlier hours between 2-4am. I’ll do a combination of power pumping (10 mins off and on) and longer stretches up to 20-30 mins
