Blood type rh negative

Hi all, my blood type is Rh negative and my husband’s is RH positive. I’ve always been told that I would need some injections to build antibodies. Does anyone have any experience about this?

I’m resus negative too and my husband is positive. You’ll need an anti d injection at your 28 week appt. If you have any bleeding you must go to hospital as they’ll likely give you an anti d injection in case your blood has mixed with baby’s. It’s very important if you want more children. You can get a blood test to test baby’s blood too. If baby is also resus neg you won’t need the anti d injection

I just got mines last week at 30 weeks, they might take bloods to confirm everything before they give you the injection. They do the injection 27 weeks onwards. You might need another injection 72 hours after giving birth if the baby’s blood type is positive.

Thank you girls 😊 is it painful? I remember one of my colleagues said that the injection was painful

It’s not the nicest I won’t lie. It just seems to take forever 🫣

You only need anti d if the baby is positive. Lots of NHS trusts now test the baby's blood type (by taking a sample of your blood) to see whether or not you need it. If the baby is negative then no worries, no need. If the baby is positive then yes you'll need the injections. I didn't find it any different from a vaccination tbh

I had the anti d mine wasn’t painful at all really just like any injection and only took a second to do

The same situation and I did shot during my first pregnancy. That’s needed to protect your future pregnancies. Now I am pregnant with my second - not sure yet if I will need to take another shot or not.
