Lost sense of who I am

Anybody else feeling like ‘just a mum’? I’m a mum to a 5 year old and 2 year old, and also a SEN teacher, and I feel like they’re the only things that define me. I’m either teacher me at work or mum me at home, I don’t know who I am anymore… I don’t have a circle of friends, I don’t have my ‘girls’ and it breaks my heart. Another Saturday spent with my wonderful kiddos, but with me feeling very lonely😓

I can sympathize because I’m new to UK and am finding it hard to make Mum friends, I go to baby groups but half of the Mums there know each other so usually my son and I end up playing off to the side so I been finding it quite lonely

Completely feel you! I’m either nurse or mum! There’s nothing else! Feel free to message lovely and we can chat about how rubbish our days are 😂🫶🏼

Definitely feel this! I’m actually quite local to you if you have time on weekday evenings to venture out for a bite to eat/drink (but I’m not a drinker incase this matters!) Beginning of last year (once my son had turned 1) I actually made myself do one solo activity a month, new or not so new & really enjoyed just meeting other people (or not if it was a solo cinema trip!) I joined book clubs, crafty things, a retreat day, spa trips, cinema, then actually joined a girls group across the UK if that would be of any interest to you. They do group events regularly too but there’s a fee ☺️

You’d have to find a hobby, a class that you wanna join, have something for yourself. Maybe it’s my friend group but every single mum I know has a hobby they go to. I’ll list some and see if any interests you I have friends that attend a photography group, hiking group, trivia night, bingo, poker, Pilates/yoga, Zumba, boxing, heels class, pole dance, indoor rock climbing, just gym. And they find friends there. As for me I’ve been dancing salsa and bachata for 3yrs now, I go salsa dancing every Friday night. Sometimes a gf joins me for drinks and some dancing but mostly I go by myself.
