@Hannah yeah literally like he used to enjoy sitting in the high chair even just playing with toys and im worried that he now associates that with not a fun experience as he won’t sit in there very long now without crying to be out 😭
Your experience sounds exactly like mine. Are you EBF too? Hopefully someone has been there and come out the other side and can offer some advice. I'm not sure what to try next tbh. If you find something that works, please let me know.
@Hannah no he’s formula fed, he has always been a chunky boy and been showing signs for ages so I was so excited to see him try food and now it’s like he doesn’t want it and it’s made me a bit sad to be honest. Hope things get better for you and same if you get any advice please let me know!
They say food before one is just for fun I wouldn’t worry too much baby is just trying different textures and flavours they will still be taking their important nutrients from milk
@Cerys yes I know it’s not for nutrition but just makes me sad he’s not even really exploring any of it as he’ll hardly take any on his mouth :-(
I think this might be normal, many babies still will spit out and not swallow properly. I've given mine 10 types of food now with varying levels of disgust expression haha. They say you need to repeat it 7 times per food before you give up on it as well. It's their first time tasting and may be a bit overwhelming.
@Gemma thank you. It’s just tough seeing so many videos of first time weaning going so well but it’s like anything I guess, need to stop comparing x
I know, I feel similar, can't stop worrying I have a natural born picky eater! I suspect a lot of the first time videos are only uploaded because it went well. But I did see a nutritionalist mum wean her son and it ended in a meltdown the 2nd day, so it goes to show it's not all rainbows even if you're an expert in food!
Literally just written a post on this. My 6month old not weaning well either and I’m pretty sad about it :( Does she seem upset about the experience too?
My daughter is the same, been trying for a month and she is just not interested. The longer I persevere, the more she gets annoyed and cries. Any advice is very welcomed. I think she would really benefit from solids too as she is always hungry which is hard when she is EBF.
