Iron deficiency

So after 3 kids I’m pretty deficient in my iron, hair thinning, no energy even after sleeping for 12 hours. I have taken iron tablets before and they just make me constipated which is why I’ve avoided them. Should I just stick with them or is there something else I can try like drops ? Just need advice from someone in the same boat. Thankyou

There’s iron water sachets you can get

Deffo go back to your GP or midwife to advocate for yourself. You can get iron liquid that has less constipation but still some. Or if your iron is low enough for anaemia and you don’t tolerate the tabs or liquid you can get an iron infusion.

Eat apricots, grapes and leafy greens alongside increasing your water intake to try and keep things moving too ☺️

I think super savers might do an oral spray version of iron, whether it's mixed with like magnesium. This might be easier on the stomach, but along comes with it to drink lots of water and also increase fruits and veg for a softer diet, prunes, grapes, Strawberry etc

I’m aneamic, when I have flare ups n taking iron tablets I have to have breaks between because they make me constipated, the liquid version doesn’t benefit me like the tablets do . My doctor literally told me I know my limits I know when I need tablets and I know when I need to stop so it’s all about finding a balance of getting enough iron but being able to go to the toilet (but I was diagnosed with anaemia when I was an early teen and can control it pretty well now without meds unless I have a bad flare up) I’d definitely ask your doctor for a blood test though, you might be taking tablets with too much iron which could be causing you the problems. They’ll help get a plan which is right for you

Spatone is a liquid iron you can mix with something like fresh orange to help with absorption of the iron they’re brilliant and a lot of people who use them don’t have side effects.
