Our town didn’t start lessons until 4m. He was 4m in December. So we waited until the next session that started in January at 5m.
Started taking mine in the pool at 6 weeks then to classes at 4 months, he has no fear, goes under water and now at 10 months jumps off the side to my arms. As for learning, he has definitely learned to hold his breath when he goes under, to look for the edge when he comes up and now he’s working on floating on his back alone. Worth it in my opinion!!
So I do waterbabies here in the UK. They start classes from birth and they advised the earlier you start the better just to get them used to the water. We had a baby in our class that started at 5 weeks. I started mine at 4 months only because we moved to a new area so didnt see the point in starting before. My baby is now 2.5 and she loves the water. She's had the same teacher since 4 months and loves going. She's taken in everything over the last 2 years and is amazing. Of course we have our ups and downs because shes defiant and knows what she want. So if you can find a class or even just take them to a local pool its worth it!
We started swimming lessons with our little boy when he was 4 months old.
I can't remember when I started with my little one but it's been around a year now and my little one has barely learnt a thing and still isn't always confident (she seems to have gone from bad to good to bad again). It's a lot of money I've spent and I feel like she'll never properly learn anything until she's a couple years old. A lot of the times I say "are you ready to go back under" and she just says "no" and pouts 🥺 I then just pause and give her a big hug Honestly I think just taking them to a pool often is good enough for now, and then swimming lessons are probably better when they're older
We started at 12 weeks with mini swimming . Best thing we ever did . My daughter loves the water and is so confident. She’s now got 3 badges at 15 months old . It’s such an important life skill , plus in the lessons your more confident being with baby in the water . Especially when you go on holiday etc. You learn how to hold them in different positions that are beneficial and for safety . Babies that young have no fear and are actually very good in the water .
Started water babies at 4m she learnt to hold her breath going under really quickly. 2 years later still goes and still loves it
We’ve been to water babies since 4 months old. I’d recommend waiting until they can confidently hold their head and then go! My son is so water confident now at 18 months, can jump in and go under water and loves it, can safely hold onto the side of the pool and climb out, kicks his arms and legs etc. We’ve just started a new term and babies at around 18 months have just joined and are scared of the water and won’t be submerged etc. The younger the better! It definitely helps their confidence and ability later on x
We go every week but just go our selves for water confidence and not necessarily lessons. My oldest is almost 3 and he’ll start proper lessons at 4, but he’s very water confident x
We go water babies and its ace. I think She started at about 3 months old and shes learnt not to be scared of the water, teaching her skills like how to float and hold on to the sides and "swim" (kicking and such). I don't think they can ever swim until much later e.g years but it's super fun any way.
