My baby won’t sleep anywhere but my chest

My baby is almost 6 weeks old, and literally will not sleep anywhere unless it’s my chest. Although it’s super sweet and I’m savoring every minute I have with her, I’d love to have her to take naps in her bassinet. Every time she lays on her back she immediately starts fussing, grunting, and trying to fart, etc. Would love some advice or recommendations on how you’re getting your baby to lay down (or not) lol

I know it’s hard when you have so much on your mind but just enjoy it ❤️ You probably have the longest list of things that need to be done in your mind yet you are doing the most important job in the world. You are showing your baby how important and loved they are. With my first this was a struggle but with my second I just want to hold him constantly because time has taken my first baby away and the most I get is a cuddle in the evening! Also a baby wrap sling is a life saver when you really need to get things done x

The fussing and grunting is normal. Mine does that in the middle of sleeping for a few minutes sometimes too. As long as he isn't actually crying or yelling, I just let him work it out and he settles back down. It's important to their development to learn to self-soothe, and a little discomfort as their digestive systems continue to develop is expected.

Try helping her with gas by rubbing her lower back, her belly in small circles and pushing her legs up over and over, my son is the same he does sleep okay in the bassinet in a tight swaddle but he prefers being with me throughout the day, so I ordered the momcozy carrier and it’s been a lifesaver to get things done while he sleeps

I started swaddling my baby & bought a mattress pad vibration toy to put in her bassinet. It helps a ton. I pit it in her stroller also

this is not advice but i am experiencing this with my 6wk old and i do safe bed sharing and swaddling and use a mobile for the times he is awake/ laying him in my bed to look up at the fan. This is all recommended from my lactation consultant and def not following americas guide to “safe sleep” but rather looking at how other countries handle newborns because those first 3 months they just want to be held sometimes (you may also have a velcro baby that’s what i think mine is😭). I can get him to nap for a bit after a bottle and holding him on my chest while in my bed then after abt 30mins then rolling him into my arm and slowly taking my arm away, maybe it’s the scent but he sleeps very well in my bed and since he’s too young to roll around this works for me as well as i have the baby camera that can face my bed. I do not need anyone’s advice I know this is controversial.

Use a windi!!!!! I SWEAR by these things, it will release all of her trapped gas before setting her down

@Kelly my baby poops every time we use the Windi or take his temp lol It does help though, have used them with all my babies.
