Baby on board badge?

Hey- when do you get the baby on board badge? Also, what are people’s experience with this? Did most people offer you a seat? Thanks!

you can order this on the tfl website, and sadly no especially on the underground if you travel in rush hour your manager can make adjustments to your working hours as part of a safeguarding plan - to be honest i just asked people for their seat especially when sitting in priority seating and nobody ever objected but they will just ignore the badge sometimes you have to be verbal

Not sure where you're based but I got mine off the tfl website just type baby on board badge into Google and fill out the form on the first link and they send you one. I found most people offered me a seat but I only use the overground

I got mine on the tfl website. It comes quite quickly and you can order a few each year (nice to have it on different coats or if one was lost). It really helped in early pregnancy when I felt horrible, but wasn't showing and in winter when my bump was smaller and hidden under a winter coat. I haven't worn it in a few weeks because it's pretty obvious I'm pregnant at this point.

Oh thank you I thought you’d get it at a midwife appointment and didn’t realise you ordered it yourself!

Only downside is I’ve never had anyone offer me a seat! Despite being obviously pregnant. A lot of people are also on their phones and not paying attention to who’s coming on. So deffo ask if you need a seat

I usually get a seat, have only had to ask once or twice - many people (especially men) look at me in horror and almost jump out of the way 😂 I asked a tube station and they had some badges, pretty sure it was Tottenham Court Road

I’d say 50-50 as to whether you get a seat. I tend to find the more pregnant you look, the more luck you have

Most people offered me seat if they saw the badge

I found that most people were too engrossed in their book, phone, etc when sitting down that they didn’t see the badge, rather than avoiding having to give up their seat. Whenever anyone spotted me, I was always offered a seat. When that didn’t happen because the train was too busy, either another standing passenger would intervene and ask a sitting passenger, or I just asked myself. Also keep in mind it’s not just about you needing to sit because you’re uncomfortable, it’s about avoiding other people from hitting your bump on a packed train or you falling over if the train suddenly stops.
