@Kirsty It was an emergency after laboring for 36 hours! This gives me hope haha.
Obviously i cant say for absolute certainty, but apparently trauma before and after surgery has a big impact on healing and a long labour is absolutely traumatic 😂🙃 I had a horrible experience the first time around, tried so hard for a vaginal birth, ended in a emergency c-section and then 5 days in hospital. My recovery wasn't great, mentally or physically. It took me months to feel like myself. My next two, polar opposite experience! It sounds like you had a similar experience, fingers crossed your next delivery goes as well as mine did! I am so sure it had a huge impact on the healing!
My doctor said they have Physical Therapy for scar healing maybe see if they have that?
Yes! If you have access to a pelvic floor therapist, they help a lot with healing scars! Also my doula recommended I take collagen for a little while afterwards as it promotes elasticity. But the PFT was the biggest help of all! Highly recommend if you can.
silicone scar sheets!
I’ve just had my 2nd c section, this one planned first 16 months ago was emergency. I had keloid scaring and this time they have stitched me up differently because of the keloid, maybe ask them about this? I was also told to use silicon strips which I haven’t started using yet but got some, can’t comment if they work or not x
Was your first an emergency c-section? I also had a very large keloid after my first. Doing some research, it seems that part of the cause could have been my prolonged labour, like my body was in such a state by the time it was trying to heal itself, it actually caused the keloid. With my second and third, neither healed as a keloid, and i am convinced it's because my body was calm/rested/prepared and it healed appropriately.
