Dummy weaning tips

Hi, My little one is 8.5 months old and I am trying to get him to wean off his dummy before he is one. I know I am little late with this. I should of done this before he turned 6 months. Any tips would be helpful. TIA

Apparently if you cut a small piece of it out they give the dummy back to you as they don’t get the same sensation from it. Worth a go maybe? I have seen other use a pin to pierce the dummy in a few places too.

No personal experience, but we plan on doing what my mum did to us, as she swears it worked amazingly quick. We’re going to cut the dummies lengthways with some scissors, (from top to the plastic base) it means when baby is using it, it goes flat in their mouth, then they pull it out to inspect and it’s as normal, this irritates them and my mum would say “oh no, it must be broken” and within 2 days none of us (I have two sisters) wanted the dummy, we just chucked it away from us 😂😂 not sure the modern parents would love this approach but this is my plan 😂

With the above comments be verrrrry careful with cutting a dummy. Makes it a massively higher risk for choking.

@Taylor absolutely agree! I think I’ll only be using it when I’m right next to her!

Considering it's recommended til 1 you're not too late. Have they got an alternative comfort. My daughter has a small soft toy cat which helps calm her
