Do you feed your toddler a bedtime snack?

I feed my daughter a healthy dinner at 6 PM and she goes to sleep around 715. Sometimes after bath and pajamas, moments before sleep, she is asking for crackers. Should I give in? I don’t want to make it a habit, but some people do it routinely. Should I just plan to feed her a bedtime snack every night?

yes but mine goes to sleep at 8 (we eat dinner at 6)

Yep. Both my toddlers. Sometimes, it's fruit, crackers, or even a pouch, or yogurt tube's. But my kids don't go to bed till 9pm and we eat dinner around 6. I don't think it's a big deal to have a snack before bed. Most adults even do it.

Yes we do every night but we typically eat dinner around 5 and their bedtime is a bit later

My toddler has been asking for string cheese, gogo, and chocolate milk every night for weeks. She’s a late night snacker like her daddy 🤷🏻‍♀️

I give my son a snack before bed. We have dinner at 6 and bedtime is 8/830.

Yes, nursery does dinner at 430 and I do it between 4.30-5, so I always offer something else (cereal, banana, crackers, yogurt) before bedtime at 7.30.

Absolutely! I have a low percentile 2 year old daughter and anytime she asks for a snack, I give it to her. It definitely helps me sleep better when I have a late night snack because I tend to wake up hungry too. I want my daughter to know that we can eat at any time if our body is telling us we should eat something. Nighttime snacks are usually a banana, mango kale pouch, plain ole peanut butter, or crackers.

Not a snack just milk. Probably best to give more at dinner - so dinner - fruit and yogurt we usually do x

I would say just make sure you brush her teeth after she's had the snack rather than the snack being the last thing she does and then falls asleep.

I give her a snack if she’s hungry before bedtime starts, or if she drinks her milk and immediately asks for a snack, but once we’ve done milk, brushed our teeth and gotten into bed, then I don’t give in to more snack requests because that’s just a delaying tactic on her part - she loooves asking for just one more everything so I have to draw the line somewhere 😅

If mine asks for a snack, I normally give her a banana. We have dinner at 6 and her bedtime is 8pm. I feel that if she's asking then she needs it.

Yes my 5 year old and 2 year old get a bowl of cereal or a slice of toast or a banana before bed every night. They sleep much better when they’ve had something to eat before bed.

We eat at 6:30/7 and she goes to bed at 8:30, she always has some kind of snack.

I don’t see why not? Alternatively you can cut up fruits and veggies and just leave them out for her to snack on after dinner 🤷‍♀️ apples with peanut butter is yum and has good protein

*The thing is sometimes she doesn’t eat her healthy dinner and then she just begs for junk in her room with the nightlight on. I’m not going to feed her anything messy in her room, and I don’t want to go back into the bright lights and stimulation of the kitchen, so I’m considering bringing an appropriate snack to her room ahead of time every night and it could just become part of the routine.

Yeah if supper and bedtime have 2 hrs apart or more then I give a little snack- yogurt or oatmeal is the usual option

@Grayson Consider giving her a banana since they’re mess-free and actually aid sleep. Cheese is also mess-free and pretty filling.
