My paediatric feeding specialist advised to add a drop of alcohol- and sugar-free vanilla essence to the hydrolysed formula if bubba refuses it (because it tastes shit...). Does your immunologists believe that she also may have a cow's milk protein allergy/intolerance? Otherwise the lactose free cow's milk (or goat's milk?) formula may be yummier, possibly cheaper (?) and easier to get. The hydrolysed one seems to always be sold out everywhere 😬 ...But I'm sure you've got your reasons for not trying that one :) Good luck!
@Ma.K When we were trying to get her to take soy and then rice based formula we mixed 5ml of it into 100ml of pumped breast milk and she still could detect it, totally refused it and threw the bottle back at us 🥲 Thank you for your advice - he said to start with just a lactose free formula and see how badly she reacts then go from there, just trying to avoid another hospital visit or projectile vomiting / shitting
Ps. @Beth not sure if you’re aware, but goats milk formula is probably not an option for you guys either. Our allergist told us that if you have a cows milk allergy, you can’t have goats milk either.
@Ma.K most hydrolysed formula or amino based formulas taste and smell terrible
Our little girl has a cows milk allergy and we have been very happy using Novalac allergy which is a rice based formula. You can try and introduce small amounts in a bottle here and there until she is used to it. I also used to fortify breast milk with formula, as I had a fussy feeder.
