Could be, or could be coincidence 🤷♀️ my daughter has always been a great sleeper, exclusively breastfed :)
It could be! Breastmilk is more easily digested so when babies are breastfed they tend to eat smaller amounts more frequently.
My little boy only had formula for like 3 weeks but omg he immediately slept so well!!!
My daughter was combifed for the first few months but I always gave her breastmilk before bed cause she slept better with breast milk than formula, so I think it depends on the baby!
I just started combo feeding about 3 weeks ago and I feel like he started sleeping better for naps during the day, but can’t see a difference in night sleeping yet. I think we’re going through sleep regression right now though 🙃😂
My first was breastfed, and her sleep was terrible! We were EBF for 14 months and she didn’t sleep longer than 1-3 hour stretches until we stopped! My second couldn’t latch, we had her tongue tie cut and used shields but she just couldn’t figure it out / got bottle preference so we are now formula, and she sleeps like a dream! Definitely fills their tummies for longer 😴
I formula fed my first and she slept like an angel, My second I have been combi feeding and I find when I breast feed she is more unsettled but when having a bottle is out for a while x
Yeah quite possibly, breast milk is digested quicker while formula sits for longer in the stomach. If you can combi feed, it's truly amazing. Benefits of breast milk but benefits of formula too. How ever you should be aware of issues such as milk supply, randomly refusing bottles in favour of boob, and I'm sure there are others (my 10 and 13 yo were combi fed so a long time ago, my 9 month old was premature so we had issues with breast feeding by time she wasn't rube fed). You can work round these probs with regular pumping, getting others to feed baba with bottle so they don't smell your milk. I def found it worth it and keep going longer than I would have exclusively BF. Good luck! Xx
My son definitely started sleeping better when I started combo feeding 🤷🏼♀️
I combi fed both my kids and one was a terrible sleeper and the other slept well so I think it must depend on the baby.
How did you do it? I’m breastfeeding too but my daughter hates formula she doesn’t want.
Our formula fed babies slept through the night for the most part. Our breastfed ones are a lot more frequent during both day and night
Might be? But also my baby is exclusively breastfeed and she sleeps through most nights. She’s almost 4 months (on the 25th) 🤷♀️ she’ll go to bed for the night around 12am and wake up at 10am. She gains good weight and makes good diapers too
Also I don’t think all formula is made the same so maybe you’re getting different results than other formula babies in here because they were on a different brand?

@Erina I honestly just got lucky that he didn’t have an issue with formula. I have heard some formulas taste better than others, maybe try to switch up the brand?
Well I’ve used two very different brands. Similac Alimentum, because he was colicky when he first tried it and pediatrician thought it may be an allergy. But I’ve tried Bobbie Gentle (organic and EU approved) and he stayed consistent with sleeping. I do know that the USA and Europe have strict standards on what is required for formulas, so it can’t be too different other than a few ingredients or how it is prepared. I don’t think it was the brand specifically. Also that’s great that your baby sleeps through the night without formula, but that doesn’t mean that formula wasn’t the reason my baby does now.
Could be. But might not be at the same time. I EBF my 12 week old and he sleeps through the night.
I think defo the formula. My first born breastfed for first 2 weeks then only formula from then onwards, Slept 8-10 hours a night! Might daughter breastfed since birth still breastfeeding now and wants milk maybe every 3 hours maximum in the newborn days maybe every half hour!!! Still doesn’t sleep through the night at 19 months old without milk
@Ashley that’s great! But read the comment right above yours
It could be! I have a 10 week old baby and she was ebf from the start, but atarted sleeping better soon after we introduced bottles in the evening (I work in the afternoon and get home at 11pm) and she was on formula for a week when I had mastitis. With formula she started sleeping 4-6 hour stretches at night and happily has continued doing that since.
I wasn’t making enough for my son so when I started to use both breast milk and formula he was able to drink more and started sleeping through to night
I FEEL AMAZING! I LOVE SLEEPING.
