My son did this but just for three nights so we split his milk in half and had half downstairs before bed then half in bed and it seemed to work. Think he was too full and too much to process lying down
@Ellie I think it’s more than that because he is coughing a lot during the day after he has dairy and it sounds like he is bringing something up. I have a GP appointment at 5pm so let’s see…
@Lenka unless you’re allergic it’s not recommended to stop dairy completely for a whole month as it can cause an intolerance and luck of nutrients. The health visitor advised to stop just the milk for now but continue other dairy products during the day like yogurt and then I got him a GP appointment today at 5pm so I’ll see what the Dr says! I do however agree that a lot of the stuff we buy at the super market have so much crap in them!
@Konstantina I was told that by HV when LO has some issues, yoghurt is only a step below milk on a milk ladder.... We stopped all dairy for 3m and then reintroduced as per milk ladder, which was played by dietitian we were referred to. I see from conversations here every HV has their own way and they often contradict.. would love to see their training, how are we supposed to know 🥴
@Lenka if a dietician or a medical professional told me to stop for 1 month or more I will but I won’t stop it without medical advice. We did see the GP today and she doesn’t think it’s to do with the milk anyway but to do with the croup still. I’ll keep an eye on him and we’ll see!
@Konstantina we had 5m waiting time for a dietitian appointment, so we stopped before that, I wasn't waiting that long. I'm not saying you should stop, just saying our experience with dairy Hope the cough goes away soon x
@Lenka I know what you mean about the HV, sometimes it’s so confusing and I suppose we end up having to trust our gut and do what we think it’s best isn’t it?
@Lenka we’ve stopped the milk for now, he just had one small yogurt today, he’s not been too bad. The Dr said if once his sore throat and cough is gone like in a week or two, if he still can’t keep milk down to come back as they’ll refer for allergy tests and other things. I’m definitely not going to wait too long, I’m just keeping an eye on him!
Have you tried buying a milk from a farm? We use modern milkman and the milk is so much better and quality is somewhere else than what you get in a supermarket. Tastes like milk my grandad used to give us when he had cows.... They put loads of crap in milk processing and cows themselves, could be some of that? Obviously follow it up until you have a solid answer, but I would change the source of milk (or remove dairy for a month and see)
