Baby scratched himself really badly on face

Hello :( Sad mama today I was making dinner and my baby (7 month old) finally fell asleep and placed socks on his hands and he scratched himself so deep as I walked in the room it was an awful bloodied scene I’ve placed zinc magic on it from drought secret and unsure but it looks sore the zinc isn’t over it - looks shiny Any tips :( worried about infection! Also can piriton be used? I’ve only ever used it once …but his itching is relentless worried it’s steroid withdrawal 😭

When my son was a baby he’d tear his face to shreds at any opportunity but he’s now eczema free (got pretty good at around 1) and he’s growing out of his allergies at 3.5, all of the cuts healed up pretty quickly so I think it should be ok and doesn’t have any scars

Thank you so much :( such a hard journey to be on it’s heartbreaking and very emotional. I’m so glad your little one doing better that gives me hope 🩷 Did you do any allergy testing?

Yes we did allergy testing at around 7 months and that was really transformative! We were prescribed piriton which helped. I think the biggest change for us was rehoming our cat with my parents because that was one of his worst allergens besides milk

@Alex did you do the allergy testing privately? I'm not sure where to start as we're 2 months into eczema with out 7.5 month old. It's so hard to catch them scratching sometimes isn't it. Mits aren't staying on and we've woken up to blood on her sheets from itching her neck and head x

It’s awful isn’t it my baby 7 months and all this started from Xmas when was 2 and half months :( so he’s had eczema longest than being without. We are getting nowhere with nhs just awaiting blood tests but def exploring private now x

I really feel for you. My LO won’t stop scratching too and it breaks my heart. Looking for any advice to stop itching. Cutting nails doesn’t seem to do it and I don’t want to cover his hands all the time as I feel like it’s important for his development to be able to use and play with his hands
