My 9-month-old daughter had a febrile seizure yesterday. I'm so traumatized by it and don't know how I will sleep again without worrying it will happen while we sleep.
I know they are common and both my brother and I also had them as children.
We called an ambulance immediately and were at the hospital within minutes, she was safe and we found out she had adenovirus and that's what caused a fever spike.
One moment she was fine, happy, and standing up smiling, and then she fell, her eyes in the back of her head and foaming at the mouth unresponsive. I'm having a hard time getting over that image of my daughter unresponsive. Knowing she is ok and febrile seizures aren't life-threatening is not helping.

I just am stopping in to say that I wish you peace and my babies went through this. It's definitely something that scares you to your core. You absolutely believe that the worst is happening. It's very important to pay attention to the core temperature, because that's what sets off these types of seizures. So keeping the baby up temperature down. While sick or an environments that might be hot are extremely vital for this not to happen again. I wish you the best of giving you. Mama hugs right now and sending so much peace and healing over your baby right now!
I’m so sorry. How high was her temperature for this to happen? I think it’s more related to how quick it rises. Glad she’s ok
@Charmaine I'm shaken but ok. I'm so sorry your baby also had these seizures and multiples of it, I can't imagine. I'm glad your baby is ok and his seizures have stopped. Hoping they don't come back and he stays healthy. Thank you for your response. ❤️
@Misty Rae thank you! We had no idea she was sick! One minute she was happy and the other she was on the ground. No signs or symptoms of illness. I'm sorry your babies and you went through this .
I'm going to be paying more attention and checking her temperature every once in a while just to be sure.
Thank you ❤️
@Cassie when we got to the hospital it was 102. You are right, it was a quick spike. No fever to 102 in a very short period.
My first daughter had one around this age! I still get scared anytime she is sick! But it has never happened again!
