All I can see is formula fed babies so wanted to reach out to any exclusively breastfed babies.
My LG has started to go from a good first 6 hour stretch to barely 2/3 hours at first for bedtime then awake every 2.5 hours after that where I use to get 4+?
She’s 16 weeks Monday just wondering if anyone is going through the same?
She also has very short feeds in the day and longer ones over night

Hello! Mine is the opposite 😅 went from 2 hour stretches to 6 hour ones…in terms of the day time fees, yes mine are getting shorter too, but I think that’s normal - they’re getting better and more efficient at feeding so don’t require as long.
Mine is also still doing longer first stretches, around 7-9 hours some nights (hoping it lasts 😅). She’s almost 14 weeks so I don’t think we’ve hit any form of ‘sleep regression’ yet. I tend to offer her the boob every two hours or so in the day to try and keep her full, but her feeds are rarely more than 5 minutes long. Her only longer feed (10-15 mins) is after her first wake up between 4-6am.
I’m going through something similar as well. 16 weeks Monday and we’ve had noticeably shorter first stretches, then even shorter after that. We’re getting 3-4 for a first stretch (although on a couple of occasions he’s woken after 2 hours but got back down without feeding) then 1.5-2 hours after that. I’ve also noticed night feeds have got longer again.
My little one I thought she wasn't gonna hit any sleep regression as she was doing 8-9hrs sleep stretches at night, sometimes 10! (In those stretches there were no night feedings as I just let her sleep) But here we are, she is waking up every 2-5hrs in the last 3 nights. She is 14 weeks old. She was also breastfeeding around 4-5hrs a day sometimes 60min and more in one seating. Today I'm fighting for her to eat something, if I reach 3 hrs of feeding in the day, is a good day. It's like she doesn't want to eat!
Yes my girl is 16 weeks tomorrow and her stretches during the night have become much shorter. I think it is more the sleep regression because when I put her down she isn't settling like she was before.
Yep! We went from longer night stretches to every few hours at most and some nights, he just can’t be put down whatsoever. Everything says regression/developmental leap and it’s also coincided with him having 2nd lot of jabs so sucker punched me over the last week. Last night was the first night I successfully managed to get him in his next to me at bedtime for about 10 days and he only woke once for a feed so crossing everything that we’ve come out the other side 🤞🏻
My daughter is exclusively breastfed and she is 14 weeks. I’ve found she’s done the exact same thing this last week, waking up a good few times in the night, won’t fall asleep unless on a feed and very short naps during the day. I’m praying it doesn’t last too much longer as I’m more tired than I was in the newborn days😂
So glad I’m not on my own girls!
I feel like I’ve reverted back to the newborn stage again I’m so tired! 😴
@Sam Totally get that. I think we are going back to night shift like in the good old newborn nights to be able to survive it 😅
It fluctuates all the time depending on loads of factors, the heat for example so they will drink more. Or when they go through leaps they have a fussy phase where they will drink more for comfort and then they will gain new skills afterwards, or when they are going to have a growth spurt they will drink more too. You just have to be flexible. And the night feeds are longer because baby is asleep so won't be as actively feeding as they do during the day when they are fully awake and alert. You can try breast compressions to encourage them to drink faster (Google it). But other than that just try to go with the flow, there is no routine with EBF like their is with formula but it gets a little easier each month as they get bigger and more efficient
How are your babies sleeping 8-9 hrs stretches?! I barely get 3, 4 hrs max 🤣😭 tbf she only wakes up to feed and maybe it gives her comfort
Same here. Was getting 4 hours for first stretch and sometimes second but almost every 2.5/3 now. He is also feeding much less - usually he would feed in both sides in a sitting but the past few days he has just done one. It’s driving me mad as I’m worrying he is hungry plus my boobs are very lopsided and full 😂
EBF here. We were hitting 9 hour stretches and one wake up in the night but the last week, I am being woken up twice in the night and she is sleeping around 4-5 hours max then 2-3 hours after…
Her feeds are less frequent in the day now so I put her on myself rather than wait now…
I presumed a growth spurt or regression but it all sounds very normal
Breastfeeding too! So far he has been good, he’s just done 7:30pm to 4:30am (I have no idea, my daughter never did stretches like this so I think this is the universe being nice to me now!) and I’m fully aware this may change in two weeks time when he hits 4 months. He’s currently 15 weeks. Sounds like the regression to me and I hope it doesn’t last long for you! 🤞🏻
It’s the 4 month regression, my little boy is the same
It’s nice to see we are all in the same boat about this! It’s hard going xx
