Surrogate Grandmother?

Any interest? An adult who acts as a grandparent to a child when their biological grandparents are not available or able to fulfill that role, or when the parents desire an additional grandparent-like figure in their child's life.

I regularly tell my husband I’m gonna take our kids down to the local senior center and see who wants to be grandparents to our kids lol 🤣

My previous landlady would watch my son while I worked and they formed a very close bond, he called her grandma and she called him her grandson.

Yes! We have an honorary grandma. My husband’s parents have both passed and we had the luck of someone stepping into the role. It’s been such a blessing to our girls. 🥰

This should definitely be a thing. There are these programs for dads, brothers, sisters.

I’d totally do that as an old lady lol my mom’s best friend is such a gem they take my girls out for birthday shopping and other fun things. My daughter told me “she’s my family not my bestie” the other day. Shes just extra grandma now 😂

At the school I used to teach at, they had a “foster grandma” program from one of the retirement communities around. These grandma would come to the school and read to kids and have lunch with them and help teachers do small stuff. They got paid a small amount and the kids loved it!

My parents are very close to the kids next door and now see them pretty much everyday with their mum (they are 14&8) The family moved in just before first baby was born so they have known them their whole lives and the mums mother passed a few years ago and they were extremely close and she saw her every day I think so that made it really hard for her. Me & sis are close with the family too.

I would love this! I feel bad for my kids bc both my husband and my mom have passed away before we had kids and I wish they had a grandmother figure in their lives.
