I’ll be meeting up with my friend and her 3 kids this weekend, ages 6, 7 and 9. Are these safe ages to let them have a cuddle with my 3 week old baby?

Learn more about our guidelines. My brother is six and he has no idea what’s going on😂 I would not let him hold my newborn, I would definitely sit close and help him hold!
As long as you're sitting next to them/helping them hold correctly it's fine. I was 5 when my brother was born and I held him in the hospital. We also let all of our nieces/nephews hold our son when they met him at a few weeks old, they range in age from 6-3 years! It truly depends on the kid.
Thanks everyone! 🥰
Maybe if like. They are sitting down with a pillow on their lap and you’re sitting next to them the whole time. But also depends on maturity level of the kids.
@Donna Woods exactly how I pictured it. So sweet. 🥹
My boys sisters are 6 and 9, the 9 year old I happily let her take him and go room to room, the 6 year old i do let her hold him and play about with him but she has to stay sitting down and not leave the room as he’s far to heavy for her, it’s been the same since he was born and the girls at that point were 5 and 8, every child is different though and it also depends on your level of comfort about the situation xx
As long as you’re sitting next to them it should be fine my 1,5 year old niece held my son when he was a day old, she did start crying once we took him back cause she thought he was her new babydoll 😂. She did very well tho. I think it also depends on what kind of kid it is, she is a very calm and kind kid always been so i trusted her. She also knew he was in my stomach before i even did so they already had a connection hahah.
Yes But…
1. They must be sitting with a pillow under an arm
2. Depending on age they should have an adult next to them
3.(And this one is the most important) NO SIGN OF SICKNESS AT ALL. Like he borderline rude with asking if they have had a fever recently ect. If you have too.
Learn from me. I let our Friends/Roommates Daughter (4 at the time) hold my 6 week old and it ended up with us in the hospital on Fluids 72hrs later due to a high fever. They never told me that she had ran a fever all day and was given Tylenol shortly before(so she was “normal”. I found out AFTER SHE HELD HIM. To say I was pissed was an understatement.
I’m pregnant with our third. We no longer have roommates but will be very very cautious on who holds because being in the hospital with a 6 week old is a whole new form of anxiety.
Depends on the kids and if they are clean or not . If they understand boundaries- like not kissing the baby or touching the babies face .
@Rema thank you! It was just easier to share a pic than to explain. Baby brain was not helping me lol
With supervision. All depends what they are like too!
Hell no
Help them hold your 3 week old
