Yesterday we started weaning our baby off the dummy . We’re trying cold Turkey and she will sleep without it but some naps there have been a lot of tears and she wants to be picked up . Today she actually refused her nap and was wide awake wanting to play . She’s 10 months , just looking for success stories of dummy weaning to give me hope 😅

I went cold turkey at six months it was hard for a few nights but she’s ten months now and not had one since the day she turned 6 months.
Really been wanting to do this as he doesn’t use it at all in the day time when awake just for naps and night time, but he always wakes up everytime it falls out and cries for it so I am up and down all night! Just know it’s going to be hard not giving into him especially at night😅
@Lauren this is the reason I went cold turkey. My girl sleeps from 7pm till anywhere between 6:30-8am the only reason from around 4 months she would wake is when she realised the dummy wasn’t in her mouth again as soon as it went back in she was back asleep and I wanted to transition into her own room as she started standing up in the next to me cot and I didn’t fancy waking 3-4 times a night to try and find the dummy in a massive cot compared to the little next to me that has no slits for it to fall through😂
Don’t give in! Her sleep will improve so much without that dummy. Just be persistent and offer up other distractions. Have you got a comforter ?
Thank you everyone !
Her sleep is good and she can self settle but I think I’d rather just get rid of it before she starts telling me no and runs away from me with it 😂thought it would be easy but was definitely wrong !
She does have a comforter and she does love it so just got to try and get her used to just that xx
I'm planning on starting this process soon I want it gone before my little one is one. I made the mistake of not doing that with my first and she was so unbelievably attached to her dummy it took until she was 2.5 to get it off her. I don't fancy a repeat lol
I'm planning on starting this next month when mine are 10.5 months (before I go back to work) so I don't have to go into work if we've had a bad night with no dummy etc x
I done both my boys around 17 months. I literally just binned them. It took them a day or two to get used to it but never had an issue since xx
