Feeling like a terrible mom and like I'm doing something wrong that my child is so agressive at times... she can also be so sweet and is rarely agressive towards her grandmothers. But to her dad and I, she screams, hits, abd scratches. Some days more than others

I feel like it’s normal to some extent - they often times don’t know how much force they’re using, are looking for a reaction/trying to figure out what the boundaries are, and/or are trying to figure out how to process a lot of emotions. My daughter hits, usually, when she’s overexcited or overtired. Either way, we practice how to be gentle and/or remove ourselves/our pets, so she can’t continue the behavior and knows that’s not acceptable.
It's happening at different times of the day. Hard to pin point an exact time. I see it mostly at night, during her bedtime routine. Or when she wants something and we are not giving in.
It’s common. You’re not doing anything wrong. My son does it too. He’s already 2. Almost 2.5 and the screeching and screaming. Hits us, spits (raspberries mostly) and he’s the worse towards my husband’s grandmother
@Christina🪷 they pick on the weak! Lol thank you for letting me know I'm not alone
@Dianna never alone! Anywhere in this journey, you are not alone!!! Some are just more open than others!
I literally could be coloring with my son and he will just up and smack me in the face or slap my back. No reason at all. It’s a random impulse or something
Drives me absolutely insane
He spits at Grandmom every morning and I laugh sometimes. I can’t help it but I know it’s an unwanted phase
@Christina🪷 lmao these kids are crae! Baby girl threw a tantrum during story time at bedtime and we just turned off the light in her bedroom, put her in her crib, and told her we loved her and Goodnight but that we couldn't put up with more abuse she fell asleep 10 minutes after that maybe she was over tired?
@Christina🪷 poor grandma 😆
@Dianna sounds like it was tiredness. Yep poor grandmom lol she’s out of her mind anyway so I think that’s why I laugh when he does it 😭
I’m waiting for the big tantrums to hit. We haven’t had any yet. Just mini meltdowns when leaving the playground or when tired
No my son screams at me all the time especially if he doesn’t get his way. I actually saw a video that until after two is when they really start to understand right and wrong. Right now they are just pushing boundaries. We still talk about nice hands and not hitting because it hurts. But definitely a work in progress
@Jazmin that's good to hear. So right now she doesn't know she's hurting us? It feels like she means it sometimes I swear
