Wondering what it could be that my baby is distressed and grunting as if he is pushing and then turns to full on hysterical crying, looks so painful and goes red in the face from crying he’s not constipated and it seems like gas when we pick him up and burp but it’s non stop he can only sleep peacefully upright so I’m just wondering if it’s silent reflux or? We do the laying slightly upright after every feed for 30-45 minutes and burp in between ounces using infacol…we tried gripe and Dentinox both made him worse couldn’t stop crying and get the gas out we use colief in every feed, and he is on Ready made combiotic formula, once a day we give the biogaia probiotic drops into his afternoon feed which is the only powder feed we also pace feed
He is 5 weeks old and this started three weeks ago so not sure what else to do other than tummy time make him stronger etc we also give warm baths and massage all the burping techniques that we have looked up
Not sure what else to do and I’m too scared to go to an osteopath
I’ve bought the carobel powder and size 2 mam teats we use those bottles which I haven’t used yet, and if anyone knows how this can be prepared using ready made formula that would be helpful, also we didn’t want to use the dummy he was fine without and now having to use it as it helps with the reflux apparently the saliva etc. so now he’s learnt to like that not sure how we’re going to wean him off of that at 12 weeks
If anyone has any genuine advice that would be appreciated, thank you

Learn more about our guidelines. For reflux try sitting him up to feed, pace feeding so winding after every oz or so and often and then keeping him upright after every feed for about 30 minutes once winding. That can help. Also check the teat size is the correct size because if too big or small and they are drawing too much air this can make too air and make reflux worse as they are drawing in air.
My son has reflux and we've done all these things and still had to go to the doctor to get baby gaviscon to add to our sons bottles. Its helped a lot but hasnt completely eliminated the reflux. He isnt bothered really with a dummy so not sure if it does help or not. My son is 8 weeks old.
