Hi everyone,
My husband and I have been TTC for about 4 years now. We were told a year ago that my husband’s morphology was 2%, and following another round of tests, an ultrasound has picked up that I have a partial septate uterus.
Our GP is referring us to a fertility clinic now, and advised the clinic would look at my scans and decide whether surgery was necessary prior to IVF. I’m now nervous to continue TTC prior to being seen as my research suggests a septate uterus puts you at an increased risk of miscarriage and could also result in delivery before baby is full term.
I’m nervous, feeling quite isolated in this journey and now very much in limbo. I recognise my chances of falling pregnant before IVF are slim but if by some miracle it does happen, how much of a problem is my uterus!
I’d like to know if anyone else has had this diagnosis and what happened there after.
Thanks so much in advance.

They aren’t recommending uterine septum resection? I had that done as i had been told i had a bicornuate uterus for the longest time and it wouldn’t affect fertility or having a pregnancy. My first two pregnancies were missed miscarriages. Went to fertility doctor and found out I actually had a partial septate which was likely due to losing my babies because if they implant on it there is not enough blood supply for them to survive. After the resection went on the have a full term VBAC.
I think the surgery would help IVF be successful
Did you also look into other factors like blood clotting disorders, infections, etc. to rule those out too?

Hi Cara, thanks so much for your reply and so pleased you got your bubba in the end!
My GP doesn’t really know much about it and is just sending a referral to the fertility clinic, she said they will tell me whether I need surgery but I don’t yet know if the fertility clinic will refer me on or whether I’ll have to go back to my GP to do this once they’ve confirmed. My GP is lovely but doesn’t really know what to advise..
After what you’ve said I’m tempted to have a private consultation just to get the answers.
I’ve had a range of other tests done to rule out infection etc they’ve all come back normal thankfully so it appears to be my uterus and my husband’s morphology at this stage.
Could I ask how you found the surgery and how long you had to wait to try again?(only if you’re comfortable sharing!)
Thanks again for your message.

I was told after my second miscarriage from my OBGYN that i had to have another one before they would have me tested. That didn’t sit right with me so i did some research online and found out about a RE doctor (fertility doctor) i requested that OBGYN send me in a referral and she did. I was seen about a month later, had surgery the following cycle, then got pregnancy when i got my first cycle after surgery (really fast)!

That really is fantastic news, just the positive story I needed as a boost this week. Thank you for sharing and congratulations!
