Let's talk inductions

I'm curious, are you getting an induction and why?

Why does everyone want to be induced before baby is ready to come out?

I’m scheduled for an induction at 40 weeks because baby has a pelvic kidney and a single umbilical artery 😞 I wouldn’t want one if it were an option. The umbilical cord might not be able to keep up with baby’s growth after a certain point and will cause the baby to go into distress

I might be. Nothing scheduled right now and only 36+2. I’m hoping baby comes on their own but due to my age it’s a medical reason at 39 weeks. I told my doctor I’d be open to 39.5 if baby doesn’t come sooner. Time will tell.

My first came on his own at 38 weeks.

I can’t speak for everyone, but for me it was a lot simpler, I was able to plan my birth , (no surprise water breaks) and I was able to maintain control while ensuring a safe, healthy, minimal anxiety environment within my control. I personally had a wonderful experience, a healthy vaginal delivery and I was home to rest in two days.

For this delivery I requested to be induced in hopes of a similar experience.

I’m not going to unless I have to just because my mom had four kids and three were induced. Her personal experience is the one natural labor was a lot less painful and she said while being induced is totally fine and if I do no worries, she just would have preferred pain wise naturally going into labor!

I am choosing to be induced because we live an hour away from the hospital + I want to have solid childcare plans for my 4 year old

Im going to be induced 3 weeks earlier due to high blood pressure

My son’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, so I was recommended induction and eventually a c-section.

I’m having an induction because of cholestasis- not what I wanted but gotta do what’s best for baby

I got induced with my first bc my water broke and 6h later still no contractions. It took about 2h until the pitocin finally hit and after 1,5h of breathing away the contractions I got an epidural … baby was born 3h later super easy and I honestly have to say the contractions have been intensive but I would definitely do it like that again …

I’m scheduled for one at 39 weeks for a history of precipitous labor. But lowkey hoping the baby comes spontaneously before then because I was induced with my first, and it was an awful experience.

My Dr asked me if I wanted to schedule an induction at my 39 week check up and I declined. As much as I as I am DONE being pregnant I’d prefer to wait as long as possible before any unnecessary interventions. This is my 3rd and I’ve had no complications.

I was given pitocin with my 1st after I couldn't push him out, I was already in labor, it made everything miserable. I had such a horrible long experience. With my 2nd, I didn't need any intervention and I'm hoping it's the same with this one. I'm so done being pregnant but def never want to be induced again. Horrible.

C section scar related??

I had an emergency c section in 2024 and this year I’ve noticed something new that keeps happening and I don’t know if it’s linked to having a c section. I’ve noticed when I’m getting out the shower/bath and I’m bending forward to dry my legs and feet I get this random tight knot feeling in my stomach ( few inches above scar). It scares me but soon as I stand back straight it goes. Has anyone else experienced this?

My October baby is here.

He was born at 2:33pm today but decided to breathe in his amniotic fluid instead of air. Not improving as fast as they like so we went on the cpap and are going to be getting transferred to the nicu at a different hospital. Hopefully he improves soon so we can all go home together.

Insomnia

35+4 and the insomnia is ridiculous. I’m so tired but my body just won’t go to sleep!

Anyone else? And any ideas?

When did you feel your babies consistent kicks?

I am about to be 21 weeks and I only feel him sometimes but I wanted to know if that’s normal.

Bump size

Does anyone else feel like they’re carrying quite small? I’ve had my 20 week scan and my baby is totally fine and in the normal centile range, but people keep telling me I barely look pregnant!

I’m 5ft 9 so maybe height is playing a role but with my first I felt like I actually looked bigger! 21 weeks today
