Just starting to research IVF

If you’ve been through IVF please tell me about it. How much it cost? How you paid for it? Did it take you more than one cycle? Did you love or hate your doctor?

My dear friend is currently pregnant with her 2nd IVF baby. She went to Prague! Its waaaay cheaper, about half the cost if irc, even including airfare and expenses, than it is in the US, and they are experts at it. I can get the info from her if you're interested. Fertility Tourism is a pretty big thing these days. Her family made a fun vacation of it.

My employer has amazing benefits which should cover most of the cost. But that’s very interesting to know. Congrats to your friend.

Check with your insurance and your spouses. Coverage varies by state’s due to law. Neither of us have insurance but my employer provides a “discount program” for reduced fees. In FL cost is about 20k per cycle but it really depends on location. You also want to check facilities SART success rates.

Specifically check with your insurer in the book-what the actually cover. You can even contact them for a summary of pre-authorization. My insurance is great- it covers transgender surgery! but not ART unless there is a medical issue and they only will do what will fix the issue. It was worded very specifically. I was shocked.

My health insurance should cover most of the expense. I have awesome benefits. I’m still curious about cost though.

I went through two rounds of IUI and medicine. They usually try IUI before ivf since it is so much cheaper. Each IUI is approx. $800 and the medicine is different depending on your insurance. My doctor wanted to try IUI 3 times before going to ivf and it worked for us on the second try!

Yes, me too. Congratulations on your little one! I used Letrozol, then ovulation shot, then IUI, then started high-dose intravaginal bio-identical (not synthetic)Progesterone 3x/day. Our insurance only covered fertility testing, not treatment, but it cost us less than $1000 per cycle. Worked on our 2nd cycle of IUI, after 10 years of trying. I stayed on the same Progesterone regimen for the first 14 weeks of the pregnancy. My little girl is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

Unfortunately, IUI is not an option.

hi! I’m pregnant with my ivf baby. My dr has one of the best records in the us. Dr Anderson is Newport Beach. My insurance barely covered anything except a few prescriptions. All in we are at about $25k. Give or take. There’s two steps: retrieval and implantation. It’s not a fun process by any means, but the outcome is a baby girl due in May!

Our doctor had us do IUI first which ended up working so we didn't need to go through IVF. I had 1 good egg so our chance was 6% and it ended up working out. My husband's employer has really good insurance so it was partially covered but still expensive.

Went through 2 rounds of ivf, neither worked. I have stage 4 endometriosis. Got pregnant naturally after 10 years of ttc!

You're such an inspiration to me. I have stage 4 endo and have been ttc 10 years.

I went through 3 rounds of IVF. I know have two beautiful babies. If you have any questions or want to chat about it Im here. It definitely not easy physically and emotionally so make sure you have a good support system!

My IVF baby is 9 months old, we were very lucky and we're successful with our first cycle (but did have a failed IUI cycle before). It cost about $11,000 (Aus) but I think we got about half back from medicare. We didn't like the first fertility specialist we were referred to, she didn't listen to us and was really blunt. So I went to my doctor and asked for another referral to someone else. The second specialist was much better.

I just had an egg retrieval. My insurance covered $0 so it was all out of pocket. Cost total will end up being about $27k since we are doing a FET and having genetic testing which adds to the cost. My SO and I pretty much emptied our savings

That’s where I’m at. I thought my insurance was great except if you have trouble conceiving then they are awful. I just paid almost $19,000 and that doesn’t include the medicine and I’m not sure how we are going to pay for anything else.

It sucks. I wish insurances were better about fertility coverage.

I just had my IVF baby, I had two cycles in my country, Peru. I went there because it was much cheaper and I went to the best and expensive clinic there. I love my doctor, he has been Amazing. I still talk to him. I am gonna come back for my second baby.

We did IVF and spent $9,500 on round one. That included our first egg retrieval (started with 7 embryos and got down to only 2) and a fresh transfer of one egg. It ended in a chemical. Round 2 was a frozen transfer with our last embryo and it cost $2500. We now have a beautiful baby boy 💕 medications were thankfully covered almost 100% by my husbands insurance but if you don’t have that coverage you would have to factor that in as well. I’m here if you have any other questions!

I had 2 last year, with ICSI. $15k including medicines. Not successful. My doctor said he had a lady who got pregnant on her 5th one. My advise is dont make yourself sure it will work as it hurts more if it doesnt. Dont be afraid of the needles and the procedures. Focus on your emotions and your marriage.
