Full time mom but I miss working

I never thought I’d say this but I kind of miss working. I’m still on maternity leave and enjoying every second but I do miss working and my old routine. Anyone can relate?

I miss it a lot but I am so scared about leaving my 3 month old at daycare 😭😭😭 Will you be putting your LO in daycare?

Yes!! This is one of the main reasons I haven’t returned 😫

Yes! I’ve been out ten weeks and ready to get back as well!

I can relate! I left the workplace 2 years ago to be a SAHM. It was my choice and I love staying home with them (I was a working mom for 4 years prior), but man do I miss heels and makeup and hot coffee with intellectual adults! lol

Yea I agree

I found it really hard going back to work even tho I was going mad being at home my LO was 6 months when I went back and was with a childminder I made sure they met a few times before so I knew he was happy with her and she would up date me trough out the day and really helped

I know it’s going to be hard going back to work and leaving my little one. I feel so connected to him. I just miss my Work life a little.

I definitely miss working too! I just miss my old routine and having someone tell me I’m doing great and having adult conversations. I do enjoy my LO though and know when I have to go back it’s going to kill me to leave him

I feel the same

By week 12 of my maternity leave I was SO ready to go back. I just started to feel like a diaper changing, house cleaning, breastfeeding machine and I needed something that was just mine. If that makes sense?

Omg yes!!!

I know the feeling

I've been a stay at home mommy for almost a year now and i too miss working. I loving being with my baby girl everyday but i do too miss working full time like i did for years before i became a mother.

Me too

Have you thought about working part-time? I'm currently working part-time and it really helps give me some time of my own without the guilt of leaving my children so much.

My job doesn’t have a part time Schedule. I would have to change my career.

Omg I missed working too! I'm a teacher and took the first semester off to be home with my little girl. I couldn't wait to go back! It was such a relief to me and made me a better mom. I give all you SAHMs all the credit! I don't know how you do it!

Counting down the days till I return to work. My fiancé and I agreed on 1 year ☺️

I completely agree. I work from home now but I miss the social interaction of working out of the house. I am looking forward to my twins going to school in the fall so I can find myself again. I’m not gonna jump into a job right away but enjoy the freedom for a few month and find the right fit for me. I am a different person than I was 5 years ago.

So exciting. I do feel like the time is going by very fast and eventually I’ll get back to work.

So you were a SAHM to twins for 5 years...dear lord!!! Did you get a medal? Key to the city? My LO is almost two and I can’t wait to get back to work and out of this house!

full time working over here miss being full time mom ☹️

What is the part you hate the most? I used to hate when I worked even part-time, I just missed my boy soooo much. But now I’m SO craving work. How is it possible to have both feelings? And so strong???!

Yes! I’m a special education teacher and I felt the same way! I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it’s normal. Her kids are older and she said too long on breaks with them makes her stir crazy. I love my kid and I love my job. I worked so hard for both, I’m not giving up either.

I have been home with my twins for almost 5 years now. I definitely miss the social interaction of a regular job but work from home to help keep my sanity. Ha ha.

With working from home, do you get a real break? Also, do you get to interact w coworkers? It’s funny, lots of times I had annoying-ass coworkers and would complain about them to my hubs. I used to say that sometimes it felt like babysitting! Hahahaaaa no, THIS is like babysitting. 😆

I feel the same way I’ve been home since August I just had my daughter two months ago and I’m ready and not ready to go back to work

I feel the exact same

Omg yes how how how can you have the same feelings at once??! I think I want to do part-time. Raise the kids in the morning, talk to grownups in the evening. But my hubs will have to put them to bed, because for a while I worked part time nights and still came home to a wide-awake kid!!

Haven't worked since a short term job 3 years ago because if situational reasons but since having my baby a year ago I've really missed working! It gives you a sense of self you feel like you loose a little when you become a mom! Totally relate to you

Yes. I agree.

Well said! It’s def a chance to “find yourself” again, but that feeling that you’ve lost yourself can be really scary. Especially because kids are designed to just take and take, like flowers drinking allllll the nutrients from the soil. Good for the flowers, but omg the soil really needs refreshing after a while!!!!

I feel you I was the same way Now I miss being a stay at home.mom

I know when I get back to work I’m going to miss being home. Mixed emotions lol

Totally can relate! I had no intention on being a SAHM but we moved to NY when my boy was only 4 months and I didn’t feel comfortable sending him to daycare. Now that he is a year im desperately ready to go back to teaching.

I’ll be returning back to work when my LO is a year also. I have a little bit of separation anxiety but I’m ready

Success and sense of accomplishment are measured so differently and experienced differently when you think of your work life vs your SAHM-life, that it's sometimes hard not to miss the work. That, and you get to eat lunch, uninterrupted, at work! 😂

Yes I agree. Looking forward to my lunch breaks too!! 😂😂

Yes I agree. Looking forward to my lunch breaks too!! 😂😂

i agree

I also miss working. It's driving me nuts. I was a single mom for so long working 3 jobs now I'm a stay at home mom and I can't seem to function

Likewise. I just feel like I can’t function

Same here! In Canada we get a full year. I stayed home with my first, and when I went back to work, it was great. He had a blast at daycare, I enjoyed my adult time at work (and a break from changing diapers). In the evening and weekends, we enjoyed our time together as a family. I'm home again now with my 3 week old, and will be going back to work early when the baby is about 4 months old (he'll go with his big brother to daycare). I find it's just better balance for what I personally need, and we love the daycare. I'm going a wee bit crazy feeding, cleaning, and changing diapers all day 🙃

Yes I totally agree. Being a stay at home mom is a lot of work. Congrats on the new little one ❤️

Been Stay At Home Mom for a while now. I always loved working but with 3 kids, it is actually way cheaper not spending money on preschool. I miss conversations that are not about cartoon characters!!!

Girl I feel ya. I miss adult conversation.

I miss it too 😂

I used to be the bread winner, by circumstances, and he was glad to take back the roll and get to treat me like the cute house wife family, but now money is tight and I need to get working again. Now I can't find a job...

It’s not easy finding a job. Good luck mama

This is why I went back to school when my kiddos were 2 and 3 years old. I ended up becoming a certified medical coder, working in a provider’s office for 2.5 years, and now teach at the school I attended. It took a lot of hard work, but I now have the best of both worlds. I earn a full time salary, but am still able to be there for my girls. My advice: find something you love, and make it work for you. I LOVE coding and billing, I LOVE teaching, and of course I LOVE being a mama; I just had to find a balance that worked for me and my family.

Super mom!! I love what I do also. Can’t wait to get back so I can enjoy the best of both worlds too 💕

Yes!! I was torn about what to do when I was laid off at 32 weeks pregnant. I decided to go back to school, and now my son is 3.5 and I’m a year from becoming an occupational therapist. I love that I’ve been with him so much these first few years, and I love that now I’ll have something that I love doing as just me too 😊

I'm with you! It's been 6 week of materinty leave for me and I'm so antsy. I have managed to get myself to stop checking my email! 🤣😂🤣

Same here!! I’m counting down the days till I return to work lol

Me too !!!

So do I! I’ve been a stay at home mom for about 12 years! Started a health and wellness business 2 years ago! Childcare isn’t funny here where I’m at!

I feel the same way! I was working at this great school with kids with special needs. I had to quit the job because it was in Manhattan and I now live in Long Island. My fiancé insisted I stay home and focus on my school work so I've been a stay at home mom for three months and I really miss working. It was all I did before I got pregnant and had to quit my job 😩

I was working with special need children also. I loved it. Got a call back from a city job and started a new career. Now I’m on maternity leave and counting down my days till I return. I love my son but I also love my career. I don’t mind doing both ☺️

That's awesome!

I’m currently on maternity leave and will be going back to work full time when my baby girl is 6 months in August. I am dreading leaving her in the day. How did you mamas cope going back to work? X

Don’t do it!!! Come work with me!! https://beingoodcompany.kyanipro.com/en-us/enuskwtf/8o43m

I haven’t returned to work yet but just thinking about it makes me anxious. I’ve been leaving my son with my mom for a few hrs while I run errands and go shopping. Helps a little with the separation anxiety.

I can totally relate!! When my oldest was 4 I stared a home-based business, that was 14 years ago. It was best decision because I have been able to “be home” but work, feel successful and make a full time income.

Oh yes definitely! I miss adult conversations and the ability to drink coffee while it's still hot 😂

Oh yes! I miss it too 😂

Hi there! I had exactly the same problem especially with baby number 1. I raced back to work I'm now on my second and I'm taking it easier and taking time to figure out what I want. I've been doing a bit of work/research into getting mums back into work/education (its quite a hot topic at the min, as i'm sure you know!) Would you mind taking 5 minute to complete a short survey - it would be of MASSIVE help to me! https://cassiefitzpatrick.typeform.com/to/utkgdP

I would look into a career you can stay home with. There are so many out there that you can have of your own and regain your sanity along with staying with your little. I did this and it was a game changer because I felt the exact same way. Do research to find something that meets your likes and passions. I partner with an amazing global health and wellness company that leads the way amongst all others, is anyone is interested in learning more about it. 😍💪🏼

I’m a stay at home mom and I work from home and love it! It lets me have my own thing but still be with the babe!

100% understand I love being home but I love my work life also with the interaction of people that I know and don’t know

Have you ever considered working from home? That’s what I do 🤷‍♀️
