Birth Control after Baby- Fertile Myrtle

We conceived our sweet girl less than two months after we got married. While we’re blessed to have been fortunate enough to get pregnant so quickly without much effort, we are now terrified of getting pregnant again too soon. As a breastfeeding mama, I’m currently taking a mini pill (a pill without estrogen) as a contraceptive. BUT, having a 2 month old and remembering to take the pill at the same time every day is near impossible. I’ve heard too many scary stories involving IUDs and the Depo shot. Condoms aren’t an option for me as I have incredibly sensitive skin. PLEASE help a mama out and give me your best birth control methods that prove effective!

The ring is easy although you have to remember to take it out and put a new one in every 4-6 weeks.

It’s the same “medicine” as the pill just without having to take that pill everyday. The pill was all that worked for me without side effects (I tried literally everything else) but I just couldn’t remember to take it everyday. But weeks I can deal with. Just have a reminder on my phone what day to switch out.

I use the Ava watch to track my cycle and contraceptive film (Basically spermicide) It works, and you can use it in the moment so it’s not something you have to remember every day.

Try an IUD. There are horror stories about everything. For most people they work well but those stories aren’t as exciting.

We’re in the same boat and we practice Natural Family Planning / Fertility Awareness. I love it so much because it allows us to both know what’s going on with my body - overall health and fertility. There’s nothing harmful going into my body and no surgery either! It does require the sacrifice of some days of abstinence every month, but love requires sacrifice doesn’t it? :) Plus it’s awesome to show love and affection in other ways besides sex sometimes. There are several methods - we use Sympto-thermal and I wear a TempDrop every night to record my basal body temperature.

We took our class through the Couple to Couple League, and then there’s a website called sympto.org!

How did you get about natural family planning? Is there somewhere I can go to learn about it and jump on it too?
