Stretch marks

Hey lovely mammas! Complete vanity, but is there anything people used that they found helpful to prevent stretch marks or is this just genetics?

Maybe it’s genetics. I got a few stretch marks on my hips, thighs, and chest but none on my stomach. My mom was the same. So idk. My daughter was also early so maybe that’s why I didn’t get any on my stomach. But I used coconut oil and vitamin e oil after the shower. Then when that soaked in or when I wasn’t all oily, I would put 10% Shea butter lotion on. But seriously, any amount of change to your body is totally worth it for the love you will have toward your baby. I know the idea of stretch marks is not fun, but they fade over time and they are the coolest scars on the planet in my opinion.

I used oils and lotions while pregnant and still got them bad just about everywhere. I started using body boost by pure romance 2 months ago and it has made such a noticeable difference on the size and color of my stretch marks!

I think it’s genetics. But I make my mom show me her belly to remind myself that the stretch marks become cute and not purple ugly gashes after time. 😆

Calendula oil is lovely for stretch marks! Can be mixed with coconut oil and/or shea butter. Silica is great for mending tissue as well.

Another vote for it simply being genetics. I've decided to just think of them as battle scars, since there really isn't much else to do about them.

I swear I’m not trying to sell you anything but my company has a stretch mark cream that got rid of my stretch marks that I had after TWO pregnancies (my first pregnancy I had no stretch marks but my second and third did a toll haha and this cream helped me) .....I’ve also heard that coconut oil helps

Palmers stretch mark butter and lotion helped a-lot, before and after but you have to apply regularly:D

Agree with Rebecca, I've been using Palmers stretch mark butter and lotion and I'm at 40 weeks and 5 days and so far so good 😬🤞

Cocoa butter

Thanks 🙏

The amount of collagen and elasticity in your skin (genetics) is a major factor, but would still encourage keeping it well moisturized. My midwife always recommended putting lotion on right after the shower while your skin is still a little wet.

Oh wow! Thanks!

I’m my moms only kid and she got a ton of stretch marks with me. She’s also very petite (4’11’’), and was less than 100lb when she got pregnant with me (I was almost 9lb at birth). I’m also petite, and was about 140lb when I got pregnant with my son. I didn’t get one single stretch mark. He was 5lb 7oz. I think there are just so many factors, but I doubt it has anything to do with whether your mom had them or not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don’t itch!!!! And I used palmers cocoa butter stretch mark lotion! No stretch marks on my belly

I dont know, but for the last 6 weeks leading up to due date I've slathered cheap Walmart collagen lotion. I got two identical dark marks on my hips where I missed. Otherwise only a couple very light lines under where I can see well. So far.

I used all sorts of oils, butter creams, and lotion - still got them lol they are silvery now and it’s eh whatever, I grew a human who I adore. I’m trying to myself in shape, but stretch marks are here to stay :)

I used cocoa butter and Palmer oil religiously and still got them with both of my kids. Tried the bio oil and still got them. But I am only 4’11 and very petite. Both pregnancies people thought I was having twins, and I stretched only in the front, my belly. I don’t think anything would have helped me lol. But now I call them my tiger stripes, they are silvery and some are white. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I tried everything and still got them. Embrace the stripes mama you earned them!

Palmers coco butter formula 👍🏻 no stretch marks on my stomach but you need to apply it at least once a day every day. I started using it the moment I found out I was pregnant.

I thought I was in the clear and then 1 week before delivery I got stretch marks ALL over my belly. I used Mederma Stretch Mark Therapy as soon as they appeared and I was shocked at how well it worked. I only needed one bottle and they aren’t totally gone, but definitely faded to the point I would show my stomach...now only if I could make the mom pooch disappear!

Nothing has ever helped with my stretch marks unfortunately. I didn’t have stretch marks my entire pregnancy, it was like 3 months later that they popped up. You can get them tattooed though 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's weird right to get them suddenly after a few months! I'm sure you look gorgeous regardless

I used BioOil every day and didn’t get even one stretch mark. Weleda skin food is also a good cream to keep your skin hydrated. The trick is to maintain hydration and not let it stretch out dry. ☺️

Palmers and bio oil! Everyday. 👍🏼

I got some on my stomach and I bought mederma ( expensive but worth it) I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I can see some fading away 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm gonna try this! Thanks

Some people get stretch marks, some don’t

i used mederma when i started to show more and i’m 8 months pregnant with baby 2 and no stretch marks. it’s expensive but if it’s really the reason i’m not getting any stretch marks it’s worth it.

I didn’t use anything and I never got them with either of my two girls. So I blame genetics 100%.

Bio oil!!!!!!

I personally think it’s genetic . But I did everything I could to prevent . I used all natural virgen unrefined coconut oil . I didn’t get any on my belly but some on my thighs and under boobs . My mother and sisters have barely any or none at all .

I heard that Vic’s helps after tho ! Idk if it’s safe but I know it works . Rub on Vick’s and wrap yourself in wrap over night . Good luck .

Hello, Im due in 1 month and I have dark stretch marks on my stomach and I was wondering what is best for me now that the pregnancy is nearly over.

Personally was told by my step mom (who is Hispanic, so no shared genetics) that I needed to lather on lotion and exercise to not get stretch marks... I put lotion on daily and moved as much as possible... my belly just grew and grew and became covered with stretch marks🤷🏼‍♀️ it's not the best thing in the world, but you end up appreciating them eventually😅 Which I was counting on not having them since my mom didn't get a single one, but that's what happens with 10 pound babies I suppose🙃

Joyome from plexus is awesome!! That’s what I’m using!

Mederma. It’s mostly gotten rid of the surgical scar and stretch marks for me. You’d hardly know I had a c section.

Did you use mederma during pregnancy or after?

Coconut oil

I used Bio Oil, Coconut Oil and Sorbolene alternately every day during pregnancy and after pregnancy I exfoliated every second day around the areas that I thought would get stretch marks and applied the Oils or Cream. I haven’t got any stretch marks. My Mother and Sisters got them. So genetics didn’t play a part for me 😊

Genetics helped me out but I did get a couple on my boobs and hips. Bio oil seems to be making them less noticeable though.

Coconut oil was my best friend. The entire time I used it not one stretch mark, then I got too confident and stopped using it... now I have a few. 😑🤷🏽‍♀️

I was lucky that I didn’t get any stretch marks with my 3 pregnancies. I ate very well. I do know zinc is helpful when it comes to stretch marks because of the production of collagen. Also, vitamins A, C, and E are helpful. Stay hydrated!
